You might want to check the idler wheel that takes up the slack in your drive belt. Sometimes the bearings go bad in the wheel and can cause noises.

SOURCE: Frigidaire Front Load Dryer

Reach inside the drum and feel the drum inserts to see if one of those has come loose. Sometimes you can have one of those screws back out and hit something on the inside. Could also be a bent drum (doubtful unless its been overloaded or abused real bad) a front slide is bad (would probably cause squeeking or grinding noise) or rear bering (also should squeek or grind). Good Luck!!! Jim

ngfam1,

You are reminded, this is a SELF HELP web site. You are supposed to encourage people with you knowledge of how to repair appliances. Not to discourage them and tell them to call a repairman. The whole point of this forum is to AVOID a service call and NOT to promote your repair service. Give you a good rating for what? Stop begging for ratings and start actually helping!

SOURCE: Dryer is making loud thumping noise.

Take off the back panel of the dryer and look at the motor and belt turning the drum. There may be something caught on the drum and is pinned in place causing the noise. The motor could be loose on the platform and needs to be tightened. It is probably something physical and seen causing the noise.

SOURCE: My dryer -model FER311F makes a thumping noise while in use.

Check the 4 feet & make sure top of of appliance is level. These 4 feet will have threaded adjustments, just tilt the dryer back and should be able to turn with your hand or may require pliers, good luck.

How to fix a Frigidaire Gallery Commercial Heavy Duty

Good Morning Friend,

I understand your Frigidaire dryer, model# GLER642A, is making a thumping noise when running, and you want to know how to fix this. Typically, this is not a do it yourself repair, as there are no step by step instruction manuals. I suggest contacting your local authorized technician. They will be able to diagnose your appliance and determine what is causing the thumping noise. Hope this is helpful.

The dryer works but makes a loud thumping noise model#GLEQ642AS2

All dryers have some type of roller system that supports the drum as it turns. It sounds like one of the rollers or roller bearings has worn and is making that thumping noise. If you have some basic skills and good general mechanical sense you could fix it yourself. Make sure the dryer is unplugged before you attempt anything.

My dryer makes a thump thump sound

  1. Thoroughly check the inside of the dryer for any foreign objects with hard surfaces. Sometimes items that fall out of pockets become stuck inside a dryer and make thumping noises.
  2. Check for level
  3. Make sure the dryer is level. A dryer that is out of level may not rotate properly. Banging or thumping noises from unleveled dryers are common, particularly if the dryer is resting against another metal object such as a washer.
  4. Check rollers
  5. If the thumping noises are present only for the first few minutes of the drying cycle the likely culprit is rollers. If the rollers are warped they will need to be replaced and a professional should be called in to help

Thumping/rubbing sound in drum

The belt tensioner roller has a flat spot caused by a worn bearing that catches and stops whilet the drum is turning. This causes the flat spot and the noise its making. You can purchase a new roller by itself and do change the belt the same time too

Frigidaire dryer thumping.

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS
Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots or wear on them replace them. If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem. I will include these two websites for parts and further help: http://www.partselect.com/ http://www.appliancepartspros.com/index.aspx Both also have chat assistance 24/7. Dryer makes a thumping noise when drum is turning its an electric fridgidare de5520rw2

Sounds like you have flat spots on your drum rollers.
If your machine is a front loader, remove the front of the machine, this will expose the belt and drum, remove the drum and belt, and this will expose the drum rollers.
Check the rollers to see if they have flat spots on them, if they do replace them with new ones. This should solve your thumping noise.
If the rollers do not have flat spots on them then you can try to lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil.
I hope this helps
