SOURCE: my seagate 500gb free agent

if this is first use try this: (in Windows 7) right click my computer > manage > storage > disk management > see if there are any blank spaces under the "volume" tab > click on it > format > follow the steps and thats it.

if this isn't the case and the drive doesn't even turn on...this might sound dumb but make sure its connected to the electricity because the big hard drives need extra power other than the usb.

post back if you need more help.

SOURCE: Seagate Freeagent 500gb Ext. HD not working.

Hi,
it´s my first time on this topic, but I´d recommend reinstalling it´s drivers, it sounds like it´s stuck there. Or just to be sure it is working ok, the both connections, esata and usb. If any of them work it´s ok. If not, come back, we´ll figure something out for you.

I have a SeaGate FreeAgent GoFlex 500Gb external hard dish and its shows only 230Gb.I formatted it many a times but still shows 230Gb... Please help me to fix the problem..

If you're using windows 7, right click on my computer and choose "manage" then "disk management". There, you should see your external HDD. If it is indeed a 500GB HDD and assuming it is registered as D:, you should expect to see something like (D:) 230GB and 270GB unallocated on one of the disks.

If that's the case, you can go to D:, right click and choose extend volume. Then you can extend it up to the total storage available

Good luck hope this help

500gb Seagate external. Shows in Device Manager, but 0 data, 0 space available: had three partitions, lots of data. Now shows status RAW. Is there anyway to access, or am I stuck with a recovery servi

Do a google on "seagate LBA 0" there are some diy options.

If it's just a case of bad sectors these guys can help you do remote data recovery over the net. http://FreeDataRecovery.us

Hi, My Seagate Freeagent 500GB Go HD (Hard Drive) has switched to Raw format. I want to convert it back to NTFS so I can retrieve my data. The drive shows up in My Computer or Computer, but I can not...

click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/f which will automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive then defragment your hard drive
hope this helps
