Question about Lexmark Interpret S405 Wireless All-in-One InkJet Printer

Lexmark pinnacle pro901 message "interference with black ink cartridge communication"

After I print anything a message pops up on the computer "unable to authenticate black ink cartridge" and the message on the printer screen is "interference with black ink cartridge communication". I have a new genuine lexmark 100xl cartridge in it. If I pop the black cartridge up then snap it back in its fine until I finish printing the next thing. I have followed the instructions to clean the contacts on the printer head and the cartridge nozzels. (Please don't tell me I have to replace the printhead its relatively new!) This will be the last lexmark printer I will ever own.

I re-cleaned cups and wiper between cups with syringe and meth. spirits. Also realised that the cartridges that I had tried that hadn't printed could have melted the jets, so found an old one , filled it right up, then withdrew at least 2cc with refill kit tools. Prints fine now.

There was a lot of sticky ink residue on the wiper (what I assume the strip between the two rest cups is) that could have blocked jets.

sometimes theres a setting for the printer that it sets when theres only a black cartridge try and find a place where it lets you set to print black or black and color normaly thats the problem if not let me know id be glad to help

    Black cartridge missing


    I think it is a problem with the electrical connection between the ink cartridge and the print head, or the printhead and the printer. If it were me I would remove both of them and try to clean the copper electrical connecttions with an alcohol wipe. The kind you use to clean glasses would probably do fine. If that does not correct the problem, you may need to replace the printhead. About 40 bucks online i believe.

    Why my printer say yellow cartridge missing,i replaced all of them


    First thing I would do is to remove the yellow and put it back in, making sure it snaps in place properly. If that doesn't fix it you might be having a problem with the electrical connections on the print-head. Print-heads do act up sometimes. If it were mine, I would remove the ink cartridges and then remove the print-head and clean the electrical connections off on the print-head and the corresponding connections on the printer, using a alcohol wipe or something similar. Reinstall the print-head and ink and try it again. If that does not work you may need to replace your print-head. They are about 30-40 bucks online.

    I have a Lexmark Pinnacle Pro 901 printer and its set up to print using black ink only, but it keeps telling to replace color cartridges and it won't let me print at all, how do I print using blac


    The printer would need all cartridges to have sufficient ink levels to continue printing - that's to prevent damaging the printhead. Every time a cartridge is replaced, all colors are primed simultaneously thus the need for all cartridges to have ink.


    To save on your ink investment, try printing in draft mode and by making sure that your printing preferences is set to print using black ink only.

    If the magenta ink is not printing, try to perform a maintenance on the cartridges. To do that, on the control panel of your printer, press on the Ink Levels > More Options > Deep Clean Printhead.
