SOURCE: altec lansing inmotion IM7 how to fix dock door?

I've found a solution. Most likely you have broken the catch inside this part so it needs replacing but don't worry, it's relatively easy to do. The latch is the black piece of plastic behind the door with a claw sticking out.
1. First, email the manufacturer and and ask for a sample latch to be sent out to you. After a bit of research I finally found them. In the UK they make them in white so I ordered one of those as I think it looks better (part #DL1WH): http://www.richco-inc.com/component/jumi/search-parts.html?searchinit=true&searchtype=rohs&interest=DL-1&Submit3=Submit
2. Get a pair of thin pliers and carefully pull out the old latch. To do this pull on on any part of the outer rim. I used the lower edge. Don't worry of you damage it. You'll be throwing it away anyway. Just don't damage any of your speakers.
3. Slide the new latch into position and push into place.
4. That's it. All fixed!

My IM7 docking cradle does not close. Someone lifted it from the docking cradle side and since then it is refusing to lock. Can you please help? The docking station is in India. If you need someone to...

I also had my latch broken. I called the latch manufacturer and they sent me a "sample" pack of latches since you can only buy in large quantities; so I now have ten of them. I love my IM7 and will be happy to share my latches if anyone needs one.

Im 7 , plug in power, placed ipod in, but no sound

I had the same problem. Mine was turning on but it would not produce sound. I was thisclose to tossing it. After having it sit on a shelf for two years it occurred to me that I could just plug an aux cord into the back and one into my ipod. Works perfectly now....although the dock is now used more for holding & serves little utility.

I shipped my Altec Lansing IM600 in a box within a box, and now the docking station is shut and the cord missing. How do I reopen it? Also do I need an genuine AL adapter plug as a replacement?

I could not open mine either, very frustrating. I finally jammed some screwdrivers in and pried it open, with considerable effort. The front and back are connected, open simultaneously. The only latch I see is front and center. My suggestion is you get something razor thin and stick in straight through the front center (directly below the LCD display)... that might undo the latch and release the door.

I have a blown speaker can you tell me if they have replacement speakers for the altec lansing IM7 inmotion

Try getting an old speaker. Alternatively remove the old one by twisting the side of the speaker anticlockwise then unscrew it.
Take it to one of the speaker shops where you could either get something closer to what you have or get a coil rewind and a diaphram change.

Blown bass speaker, hoping I can buy a replacement.

  1. Contact Altec Lansing.
  2. twist the Speaker frame anticlockwise to open then unscrew the speaker then look for a similar/something close to it(size and amps) one in the local audio shop.
  3. Get it to some audio shop for a recoil and or diaphram change.

I have the same problem. I have a Brabantia bin and the catch is the same as the IM7. You can buy replacement catches from Ebay for the Brabantia Touch Bin. Just need to work out a way of swapping them over
