Question about RTO Automatic Transmission And Engine Oil Pressure Tester
Over drive problems con drive ten miles it turns off ill stop and wait about 20 minutes it will do the same thing
Your trans is running hot or the solenoid for OD unit is bad or going bad. You need a diagnostic tester to read the trans info as your going down the road. It could be a faulty trans temp sensor shorting out and the trans thinks it is over heating and turns the OD solenoid off. More likely however the trans is running hot. This usually means the trans cooler is plugging up and or radiator is partially plugged. There are to many factors that can create this problem, some cheap repairs others expensive. The computer turns OD off to maximize cooling to move as much trans fluid as possible thru the cooler. In OD only a minimum amount of fluid is sent to the coolers as OD is a mechanical lock up of the internal gears with no slippage, not like other gear ranges in an automatic. Slippage generates heat, the fluid is used to stop the clutches from burning out and carry heat away from them.
