SOURCE: need directions to remove and replace 110 element in Dometic 2652

Get to the back of the fridge. On the right hand side, there is a metal tube about 4" in diameter which starts at the bottom and goes up. This is a piece of thin sheet metal, which holds insulation against the refrigerant line that goes up the right side of the fridge. The 110 volt heater is located inside of that, near the bottom. The heater sits inside of a small tube, welded to the refrigerant line, and is easily replaced. To get to it, remove any flat sheet metal parts that block your view of the 4" tube (you will need to have a clear view of the bottom of it.) Then you can see the heater. It is on the left side of your 4" tube, metal, about 5/16" in diameter, has 2 wires attached, and sticks out an inch or so to the left. Trace the wires back to where they are connected on your fridge, and remove them, (probably with a small straight blade screwdriver.) It may be necessary to remove another cover or 2 to get to that connection, so remember where all your cover plates came from. Digital cameras are great ;-) . Then, on your 4" tube, unsnap and open the "door" (the metal piece which is a couple if inches wide and 7" or so high,) Grab a hold of your old heater, and pull it up. It probably wont come up all the way so you can lift it completely out, so you will have to unsnap some of your 4" tube above the door. When you remove the old heater, note its position relative to the insulation and refrigerant tube, 'cause the new one goes right back in the same spot. Pull the old one out, and put the new one in. You will know you have it installed correctly when it is snug in its own little tube (you wont be able to see that part,) and there is no side to side play. Then reverse the directions, and put everything back together again. When you re-attach the 2 wires to your unit, don't worry about getting it wrong, it doesn't matter which wire goes with what connector.

SOURCE: Dometic RM2652 RV Refrigerator trips GFCI

Hi!!

Right beside the circuit panel, there is a grill, remove the 4 screws to gain access to the transformer/battery charger. You'll see a double power outlet, one cord is from fridge, the other is from the transformer. UNPLUG Transformer cord and reset breaker.

It will take a couple of minutes for the fridge to change to AC if you have it in AUTO. If everything works fine, REPAIR OR REPLACE TRANSFORMER/BATTERY CHARGER.

Don't forget to rate this answer, Good Luck!!!

SOURCE: dometic rm2652 fridge section freezes everything

Hello Keith,

Just came across your question, hope its not too late to answer.

Your freezing problem for the fridge section is likely caused by
1) the thermistor has worked itself loose from the cooling fins.
2) the thermistor is no longer on third fin from the right
3) the thermistor is failing.

Freezer gets cold frig is hot. I replaced theromister.did no good

If your Dometic refrigerator is a tri-power model (12V, 120V, lp gas), check all modes. It is not uncommon for these units to fail to cool adequately in 12V mode, as that mode is only for KEEPING things cold while on the road.
If the failure exists only in 120V mode, replace the 120V heating element. If the failure exists only in lp gas mode, replace the burner and make sure that the jet is clean.
If the refrigerator does not get cold in ANY mode, verify that the door seal is making good contact all the way around and, if it is, you'll need to replace the coil assembly. (They are available on eBay and Amazon at a fairly reasonable price.)

What type of adhesive is used to fasten the 325w heating element?

There is no adhesive used when installing a heating element on an RV fridge. It simply slides into a tube that is attached to the cooling unit just above the burner area. It is sometimes dificult to remove the old heating element because of rust buildup. Sometimes heating the area up works great. My Dometic RM2652 in my camper isn't getting cool enough when it's set on electricity. It feels cool, but not cold. The ice in my freezer turned to water, but it was still cold. The refrigerator section is...

Sounds like maybe your element for Heating when on hydro may be faulty. A voltage check at spades on board connected to element will confirm. If power to element but no heat felt at element should confirm it's faulty. Remember, if stack is already hot from propane, element will also feel hot, so it has to be out or fridge cooled down at back first.(off)

Fridge works on gas...but not on AC

Your heater should measure 44 ohms, give or take 10%.

95 Ohms is way off. The RM2310 uses a 92 ohm heating element, perhaps you installed / were sold the wrong heating element?

Dometic RM2652 cooling cois cold to touch.

If the controls are working correctly, it is defiantly a problem with your cooling unit, either blockage or else leak. The best way to find out if it is the cooling unit is the problem is to disconnect the the heating element from the circuit board and add a 110 plugin so you can plug the heating element directly into a wall outlet. Make sure it gets hot (the heating element) and let it run for at least 6 hours. The frige dosen't need to be on during this time because all controls are being bypassed if the fride dosn't make cool it is a bad cooling unit. If it cools you probably have either a short, or the main circuit board is bad. (in 1993-1996 Dometic used a yellow epoxyed circuit board that almost allways went out at about 2-5 years of use)

Dometic RM2652 will not run on electricity only Propane

Most likely your heating element burned out or else the circuit board is bad. To test the heating element unplug it from the circuit board (j6 and j7 usually gold colored) take the two heating element wires and using an ohm meter make sure there is no resistance between them, if there is resistance the heating element is bad, Or can just put a plug onto the heating element and plug it into a 110 wall outlet and see if it gets hot. If it is not the heating element it is most likely the main circuit board. (between 1993-1996 dometic used a yellow epoxy filled circuit board that went out pretty quickly) if you have the yellow filled circuit board rather than the green one it is most likly the circuit board
