The issue might be with the incorrect registry settings.
The issue requires editing registry.
I recommend you to take the backup of registry.
Press and hold Windows key and R to open Run window.
Type regedit and click on OK.
In the registry editor, click on File and select Export.
Save the file on any known location on your hard disk and you can also save it on your pendrive.
I recommend you to follow the steps in the below link:
http://notebook-solutions.blogspot.com/2009/05/cddvd-drive-not-recognized.html
You can even follow the steps directly from Microsoft link. Click on Microsoft steps for registry editing after the 15th step in notbeook-solutions blog to edit registry settings.
After editing the registry the CD drive should be recognized.
If the problem persists, after the registry editing the issue might be related to hardware.
I recommend you to perform the exact steps - Microsoft steps for registry editing

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Me too!

It seems there is a filesystem issue with the card. Certain OSes like windows, linux, mac, windows mobile, etc. use different ways of storing info, so the Windows PC may not be recognizing it for that reason.

BUT, the safer and easier was to do this, so that you need not even remove the card from the phone is to connect the phone to your PC using a USB cable. Then it will be recognized and you can transfer back and forth easily.

The idea is to get the files safe on your computer first. THEN we can format the card which is fine because the files were copied to your computer. Once the formatting is done, you are free to move everything back and forth as you prefer.

OH, one last thing, all this mumbo jumbo can be ignored if you have bluetooth on your computer, you can just connect that way.

Cannot boot into windows.

Try putting the jumper on your drive to CS (cable select) and make sure your hard drive is located at the end of the ribbon cable. This is assuming you are using a 80-conductor cable and not 40. If you happen to be using a 40-conductor cable (unlikely) make sure its on the middle of the ribbon cable. See if this works.
