Rubber button for PTT on model 430 RM hailer

The button is lost on my RM 430 hailing unit and I need a new one. It is gray about 3/4 in long and 3/8 wide. About 5-10 years old. Can I buy one without replacing microphone?

SOURCE: transmission problem

Hi,

A couple of things you can try:
1. Use electronic contact cleaner (spray type) on the PTT switch;
2. Use an external speaker/microphone and/or handsfree VOX headset
3. Replace the PTT switch. 4 solder points. Might not be easy but doable.

The last would require that you remove the defective PTT switch and use that as per sample when looking for replacement. Some printers uses the same type of switch. Familiarity with electronic components/circuitry, use of a DVM and a soldering iron would also be required.

Hope this be of some idea/help. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Is there a factory reset for this model?

In general, when a radio turns itself off when the PTT button is pressed, it is a sign of a bad or poorly charged battery. Try trading the battery with a known good unit and see if the problem is solved. If so, replace the battery.

MISSING PTT BUTTON ON RDV2020 PORTABLE REPAIR

The part you are needing is part of a front housing assembly. It is not available separately. You can choose to replace this part, send the unit to Motorola ($116), or a flat rate repair facility ($85).

Best regards

Is it possible to fix a non working PTT button on a RDV2020

The PTT button is one of the common failure parts. It is replaceable, but best done by an experienced repair center.

The following things can happen over time:
1) The internal PTT switch can wear out from frequent usage.
2) The user begins to press harder to get the PTT to work, bending the PTT switch further away from the external button the user is pressing.
3) Plastic diaphram, if any present, gets broken in half, and the external PTT switch doesn't work anymore.

Several companies offer flat rate repair on this style unit for around $85.

Best regards.

My magone BPR40 radio isn't sending when PTT is pushed. It is receiving fine. Any suggestions?

A couple of thoughts:
1) Check the mic hole and see if it is covered or clogged with debris.
2) Does your PTT button seem hard or the opposite, mushy? You could have an internal PTT issue. The PTT is a common failure part on 2-way radios. Feel around for the 'sweet' spot and see if you can make a simple or partial transmission, or if it will even momentarily open up the receiver on the other unit. If so, your radio is in need of repair. It would likely need a new internal PTT. (At most repair centers where the BPR40 is repaired the flat rate repair currently are around $69 for the BPR40)
3) Has any reprogramming been recently done on the radio? If so, double check the programming to be sure your PL/DPL code is set the same as your other radio.\
4) Check your battery. Trade batteries with the other unit and see if the problem changes. It takes more energy to transmit than to receive.

Best regards.

I need to separate the covers on a Sony TV Remote Control but there are no screws holding the covers together. Model no. RM-ED005 (R) Can you help?

At the bottom of your Sony RM--ED005 Remote control you'll see 2 small rectangular holes. I used two small screwdrivers, one to create a gap the other to prise the unit apart, when u are able to get your fingers in gently separate both parts from bottom to top.
You'll notice where the rubber pads meet the contacts there is 'condensation' this is what causes some of your remote buttons to fail.
Simply wipe away with a clean damp cloth, dry off, clip the remote together again and you basically have a new remote control.

you proably do need a piercing valve as those units usualy have no acces to the refrigerant. be carefull on how you do that the best way is to braze a fitting on and pull a vacuum then charge. most piercing valves will end up leaking on you down the road

To change channel & code press talk and monitor while turning radio on. Radio will speak current channel. Release both talk and monitor. Press talk to change to next channel or press monitor to keep current channel. Press monitor when desired channel is selected, radio will speak current code. Press talk to change to next code or press monitor to keep current code. Press talk to change code as desired then press monitor when done. Will speak channel and code selected. Set all units in same manner to communicate.
