Have you checked that the battery is getting a charge it could be the alternator is shorting to chassis or another connection. Check the battery first if there is not enough power in the battery you will just get a click.

The batteries on my panterra are charged, yet i turn the key and nothing. Can I by bpass the key?/

Thew red battery cable goes to a relay which engages the starter. When you turn the key the relay should click and engage the starter. If it is a one wire relay pull the wire off and use a screw driver or similar tool to jump form the batter terminal on relay to the bolt like thing the wire was on. This should engage the relay and starter. If it does not then the relay needs to be replaced.

I have a 1994 Nissan pickup 2400 2.4L manual trans I can push start but wont start by key replaced starter and starter relay get clicking sound out of starter relay but will not turn over

Check all connections and cables for corrosion. Make sure there is a good engine to chassis ground. You are loosing connection somewhere.

Has power, will not crank. Turn key to start, one click will not turn over

Open the fuse panel under the hood and find the starter relay, marked on lid. Remove the relay and look at the bottom for pins 30 and 87. Use a wire or paper clip and jump those pins in the panel. if the starter turns over, replace the neutral safety switch. If it still clicks, you can jump the starter, use a ***** driver and touch the bolts with the cable and small wire going to them. Still clicks replace the starter.

Tdi clicks on cold start

Sounds like a flat or faulty battery. Try getting a jump-start from another vehicle. The clicking is probably from the starter relay.
The relay operates with a click switching the power through to the starter motor. If the battery is low, the starter motor draws so much current that it effectively short circuits the starter relay which releases.
Now the starter motor is disconnected, there is enough current to re-operate the relay, another click, and the starter motor is reconnected and short circuits the relay again etc. This clicking continues until the battery runs completely flat or you stop turning your key.

It only clicks when i turn the key, jump to the

Probably a faulty starter motor, try putting the positive jumper directly on the large terminal on the starter motor and hot wireing from the smaller starter terminal to the positive side of your battery. This completely bypasses the rest of the ignition system and , if the starter still dosn't work , the problem is definitely the starter.
Don't forget to disconnect the battery before removing the starter.
Once the starter is out, check the contacts in the solenoid, this is a common problem or the brushes in the actual motor.

I got a 89 bronco II and it wont start. Its got a new battery. I jumped out the starter relay and the starter engaged. So thats good. Also the relay clicks when you turn the key. Also checked the...

Im not sure what you mean by I jumped out the starter relay and the starter engaged.
so i am going to assume that you jumped from the battery side to the starter side on the relay and that engaged the starter... which is fine but you say the relay clicks when u turn the key. Pull off the clip on wire from the relay and push it against the battery side connection on the relay (u may need a small screwdriver to assist the connection) the relay should cause the starter to engage. If it just clicks (my bet) then you need to replace the relay (its really called a solenoid )

Replace the ign. lock cylinder and key. The anti theft wires have broken and a new cylinder comes with the wires on it.

Won't crank--some kind of electrical problem

Disconnect the (battery) starter cable and check with a multimeter the continuity of the starter relay thru the relay terminals which connect the battery to the starter (key will have to be turned to start) -- if you get continuity, it's likely not the relay, but I'm with you, it sure sounds like the relay (solenoid).

P.S. Running a starter directly off a charger is a good way to burn up a charger.
