Windows XP

Start - Control Panel - "Double Click" on the "Sounds and Devices Icon"

(If you cannot see all the Control Panel items, to the Left you should have an option to view in Classic view - select it.)

Under "Sounds and Devices" - Uncheck / Check "Place volume icon in Taskbar" then click apply and ok.

Hope this helps...

God Bless.......

Go to start, up to control panel. Look for sound and multimedia icon or sound and audio devices icon ( depends of windows version) Click on it. A new box will open on your screen, on the volume tab is a check box for "Place volume control on taskbar" be sure it is checked. Exit the screen and your volume control should be back.

No sound onvideoes or utube

Yes, there are volume controls and on/off switches on all laptops I have seen. Look for an icon that looks like a squawkbox or megaphone with a + or - next to it. If you are using Windows, there is probably a speaker icon in the lower right corner of the screen, next to the time and date. Right-click it and you should get a volume control.

The volume mixer is gone how do I get it back

Hi there,

What operating system are you using?

for windows vista and windows 7 the speaker icon is shown on the lower right corner beside the clock by default.

For windows xp: Go to Control panel, Open Sounds and Audio Devices then put a Tick on show volume Icon on taskbar. Click Apply and click ok.

Hope this helps!

Sound is low how do i turn it up

First of all, if you have volume controls on the keypad, please make sure you turn the volume up from that location.

Next, locate the Speaker icon next to the time in the lower right corner of the screen. Double or single Click on that and make sure the volume slide bar is all the way to the top. If you right click, you may be able to select volume mixer or something similar, there you will find multiple volume settings, turn all up.

Finally, if you are having this problem when using a media player (Windows Media Player, VLC, Quicktime, etc), there will be a separate volume control within the player itself. They are usually a slide bar underneath the video or graphics display. Turn this up also.

Please note that Laptop speakers are notoriously of poorer quality and lack the wattage of desktop speakers. In turn, it may not be a problem with your laptop. You may need to look into purchasing an inexpensive set of external speakers.

How do i find the main volume on windows vista home basic .i have a everex stepnote nc series laptop

To locate your main volume, do the following:
  1. Right-click on the taskbar (bottom of screen)
  2. Click on Properties
  3. Click on Notification Area
  4. Place a checkmark next to Volume
The main volume control will now appear in the systray (lower right hand corner next to clock) From there, click on the Speaker icon to adjust your main volume. I hope this answers your question. Thank you for using Fixya and please remember to return to rate this answer.
