This could be a couple of things. Either the monitor is starting to fail, the cable between the monitor and the video card may be bad, or the video card is failing.

You will want to contact a local computer tech who can diagnose the issue for you.

Can't bring into focus the entire image. Corners defocused and have green/purple halos.

If it is a known problem, then it is a manufacturing error. They have just admitted that is a MISPLACED washer. Have Optima repair it free of charge.

Asus N45SL stucked on Jay Chou logo

Restart your computer
During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup usually the Delete or F2 key
this will vary depending on your computer and operating system

Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS using the arrow keys load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart
hope this helps

Fuzzy display

It could be that the crystals in the LCD are frozen, which has been known to happen in Defective Models. I recommend a New LCD. If it still works on a external monitor it is not a Video Card. Also, if you want to try a cheaper alternative, try just replacing the device under the LCD, which controls Color and Brightness. Google it, the name varies with people, so i cannot name it.

I have asustekP4BGL-VM motherboard the on board vga give 4 bit colour in xp

Hi alkdt, if windows does not allow you to increase to more than four bit color the fault lays with the onboard video card & not windows.
There are a few things you can try to improve the display in XP. First thing I would suggest is for you to run windows update service. Once this service is loaded click on the custom button & look to the right side of the page. Your looking for hardware or software updates (For the video). There may be an update for your graphics card. If windows does not list an upgrade for your integrated video you can download the driver software from Asus, click on this link to load; http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?modelname=P4BGL-VM&SLanguage=en-us
Uninstall the current video software for your Asus board before installing the new. This Asus board was made in 2003 & the onboard video uses your system memory to function. Suggest you buy a PCI graphics card & install it in to an opened PCI slot. Two reasons for this suggestion. Today’s PCI cards come with their own memory. Two, a PCI card will free up your system memory for windows. Like these PCI card;

XFX cardscome with a lifetime warranty.

Good luck alkdt!

XP freezes display just before welcome screen

Kaiwah, You never said how old the MB is, but it looks like the onboard video is bad. If it is still under warranty have them fix it. If not go out and get a new board. I have seen yours for about less than $100.00 bucks

Display problems

Check your desktop settings are'nt at 256 colours and also go to your graphics display in system properties and check if the correct driver is loaded. To double check driver go to Start>Run, then type 'dxdiag' then press Enter, for a sound and video diagnosis. IF all seems well possible notebook display fault.
