Have a Dell W4201c plasma TV. Picture quality went to heck - lots of contrast, looks like poor reception on an old TV. Also two large black splotches on the screen - 12" x 18" each, random shape. Replaced the SS main logic board based upon some chatter on fixya..(same exact part number).. No change... Checked voltages listed in the table on the back of the unit. All check out fine. Am thinking that the plasma display is bad.. Would like some assistance in understanding what is wrong and whether or not it can be repaired, or is even worth it.

    Thank you for your help.
Is the pixel generation circuit on the main PCA with the power supply ? I don't want to resell the bad stuff. Appreciate your help so I can move forward and get rid of this damn thing...

The pixel gneration circuit has failed, this is part of the main board and is very expensive to replace, if the TV is more than 4 years old I would replace it.

Dell w4201c no picture just bright colored spots

Was this set moved or transported? Is it possible someone struck the screen even if mildly?

If you can take a few good pictures and post them somewhere on the internet and provide the location--seeing what it looks like might tell what is wrong.

A classic description: set comes on but is a black swirling cloud where images can be dimly seen but are not clear--gets a little better after a few minutes but never gets normal.

W4201C no picture only sound

Try to use dvd player to play video to determine where the problems goes wrong either from the video signal of the cable provider or from the TV itself.

Please let me know any update.

DELL PLASMA

Most cases the Y-SUS, Y upper buffer, and Y lower buffer is the problem. The replace the 3 boards are located on the left side of the chassis when you open up the TV. 90% of the time this will solve the problem.
Look for burn marks on the upper and lower buffer boards (mostly around the chips with the heatsinks on them).

Help - 15 mth old 42" edtv "plasma" black screen" have power and sound

First thing to check is if the back lighting has just failed... Power the set on and looking across the screen can you see a shadow of a picture happening? You might even use a flashlight to shine directly at the screen while you look at it from an angle.
