My nikon Coolpix s6500 There a long pause when I take pics? how do I get that to stop the long pause?

One of the flaws of Point and Shoot cameras is the delay to take photos. In general you can reduce this time as follows:

Set up camera and hold it still frame the photo and press the shutter half way. If it can FOCUS (green rectangle) then all is GOOD. I will call this ready mode.

When the moment you want to photograph arrives, with a ready camera, you press the shutter all the way. The photo is taken quickly. There is a delay to DISPLAY it.

I hope this helps.

There is a delay between pressing button and photo being taken with my samsung s7000. The delay means that the subject (child) is out of view by the time the photo is taken.

Hi Susan, and welcome to FixYa-
I have had the exact problem that you are describing, albeit a different make and model of camera. Here's how I solved my issue:
I grabbed the nearest heavy object and smashed the camera....
No, but seriously, try this:
The S700 has the standard "Scene Selector" knob on the top. Make sure that this is NOT pointed toward (set to) the "Self Timer" option. The icon for this, on the camera's body, looks similar to the "Auto" setting icon.
The S700 has 3 timer modes: a 10 second delay, 2 second delay and a "Double" mode wherein the camera waits 10 seconds, takes one picture then, after an additional 2 second delay, will take a second picture. The delay must be selected by the user and will appear in your LCD viewing screen. Prior to taking a test picture, look in the display screen to see if any numbers appear. If you see any, you know that the camera is in the Self Timer mode. Simply rotate the button on top of the camera to the "Auto" icon and you'll be all set.
Good luck, and let us know how you go!

My camera has delay before taking pic

There is a small delay after you click a picture so as to enable the camera to focus properly. If you force click then the photo will be out of focus. If the delay is too long then you have to check the settings to see if the self timer is not enabled .
Regards.
plz. Don't forget to rate my suggestion..

Setting the timer

Press the 4-way switch downwards to cycle through the selftimer modes: First press shows the selftimer symbol, which means 10 secs delay, next press shows selftimer2 symbol, which gives 2 secs delay. When delay is set, press the shutter button to take the picture. The selftimer lamp will blink untill the picture is taken.

Taking photos with Kodak Easyshare Digital camera M753

with the price of the camera, there is a delay for any action shots.
you just have to adjust for the deplay.
on the other hand, the camera is getting cheaper, you should be able to pickup a decent camera around $200 that will take action shots.

EOS 30D is slow to fire.

Are you sure you aren't in the delay setting in drive mode? This camera has 2 delay settings, one for 2 seconds between when you press the shutter and when it takes the photo, and one with 10 seconds delay - often used when you want to be in the photo (e.g. self-portrait or group photo).

If you aren't in the delay mode, then I need to know more about your settings. What shooting mode are you using? What type of photo are you trying to take (portrait, landscape, sports)? Are you shooting indoors, outdoors, bright sunlight, overcast, etc.?

Taking faster photos

The time delay is caused due to the time taken to focus. and the blurriness is caused by slow shutter speed which gets adjusted by the amount of light recieved by the camera light sensor.
