Re: hoover steam cleaner

Is it spraying and sucking up ok? Check the filter inside the dirty water tank, it needs a 1/4 in. gap from the top to the top of the filter. If it isn't spraying out a good stream along the bottom, maybe running a mix of vinegar and water may clean out the lines to help it spray better.

My hoover steam vac is losing all the cleaner and water out of tank the trigger isn't stuck

You will need a resevoir. This is the valve that the solution tank sits on when put on the machine. If your exact part number is not available ask to look at another model series, you may get a different colo but you will have a working steam cleaner.

Two checks:
(1) Is the lid aligned and sealed to the recovery tank
(2) Is the round rubber gasket installed on the tubular post under the hood, where the tank seals to the base? The tube extending down from the tank must sit on the rubber seal to get vacuum from the motor.

They say that some machines have the same manuel for more than one machine. You can try another seriel number to match the machine you have.

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. I have a similar Hoover “SteamVac” and the vacuum does not create steam as you stated, but you do have to use the hottest water with cleaning solution and the Hoover will clean your carpet by spraying down the solution, the scrubbing brushes will loosen the dirt and the vacuum will pickup the excess water until the holding tank is full and then you have to empty it, and then start again. The word “Steam Vac” is something that the Hoover factory labeled but so far I have not seen anything that actual produces “Steam” while cleaning. Feel free to contact the Hoover factory with your complaint @ the information listed below. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions. I recommend to use the same detergent that came with the machine. Some detergents can cause problems such as damaging seals and causing build up. Hope this helps, post back.
