How to reset unable to clean 50 on dcp-j125

Hi,
Try to reset Purge, it just might help.
1. press buttons OK, Menu, Mono Start one by one, followed by up arrow key four times. this should all be done as short a time as possible, around 3 seconds.

2. enter maintenance mode 80 by pressing the up/down arrow key and set key to select numbers 8 and 0

3. press blue MONO start button to select PURGE which requires it to be pressed a number of times before PURGE appears on the LCD screen of the printer

4. then use the up'down key and OK button to enter the reset code 2, 7, 8 and 3 keys to reset the counter : Note this does not overwrite the number next to PURGE on the LCD screen but once the last number is added it gets reset to 0000

5. press Stop/Exit key to go to root of maintenance mode

6. enter 9,9 to exit maintenance mode

Unable to clean50

Error code #50 text =
"The purge cam switchdoes not come ON or OFFeven after the purge camhas been driven by thespecified number of
pulses."

Assuming the machine was working properly before showing the code, I suspect a problem with the maintenance unit - this does all sorts of clever cleaning operations on the print head.

Spares are still available, but are very expensive and almost as much as a new machine.
Sorry, but your machine is beyond economic repair.

Brother MFC-5440CN Unable to Clean error and may work for some others.

Hi you can try
This works with most Brother printers

Procedure how to reset the error 46 error (unable to clean). This can be done on every Brother inkjet machine with a numeric keypad.

- Machine off
- Switch on the machine while holding down the “menu” button until all the leds are flashing on/off. Now you are in “maintenance” mode.
- press 80
- press the “mono start” button several times until you see “purge: xxxx”
- press “2783” in order to reset the purge counter. You will see: “purge:0000”
- press “99” to exit the maintenance mode

Now you are able to print again, but actually your ink absorber box is now full with ink. Ink flooding can happen if you don’t replace this ink box

Also can try.

Reset code.
Press menu then*2864 within 2 seconds (maint should be on the display and all the lights should be flashing, if not try again) press 80
then keep pressing black/mono start button until screen displays ‘purge count’
press 2783 to reset purge count
press stop/exit key
press 99
machine should return to normal
