If this is for a magellan i probably have the port you need..make sure its not the charger before anything else...the car charger has a fuse in the end of it that plugs in the cigarette lighter.

Is not coming on when plugging in to car, not

Hello there,
The problem with the device is the battery is dead and the charger is not charging it. that is why it is not turning on and, that also is the reason the reset button is not working.
The causes of this problem could be either, the battery is bad, the charger could be bad or the connection port on the device might have gone bad.
You need to run a check on all of these components to be sure of where the problem is from and how to solve the problem.
To run a test on the battery, try to insert the battery into another device and try to charge to see if will get charged. Leave it for a while as the battery is drained and need to be charged for a while before it holds a charge. If it charges, then the battery is okay, but if it does not hold a charge, then it means the battery is bad and need to be replaced.
Now test the charger. by connecting the charger to some other device to see if the charger will charge the device, if it does not charge the device, then it means the charger is bad and need to be replaced. But if it works, then it means the problem is not from the charger.
Finally, test the connection port by trying to use another battery and charger on the device, if it does not charge, then it means the connection port on the gps is bad and need to be replaced.
Hope this information was helpful to you. Goodluck Elect_Comp

Unable to charge the battery with car charger nor the usb port. the thing just flash's the Garmin screen and beeps every 2 or 3 seconds.

If your Nuvi works when plugged into the car but shuts off as soon as you unplug it, the internal battery is bad and needs to be replaced. Here is a link to a YouTube video that shows how. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVrZe62qoG0

I've done it using this video and was successful, but I'm experienced making repairs like this. You decide whether this is for you or whether you should look for a repair service to do it for you.

Does not turn on

If your nuvi does not turn on, then you need to check the battery and the charger. Try another battery that is well charged in your gps receiver to see if it will work. If another battery works on your gps, then it means your battery is either weak or bad. To confirm if your battery is weak or bad, fix it in another gps receiver and charge for about 2 hours to see if it will power ion your gps, if it does, then you know your charger is bad and has not been charging the battery.
Also test the charger by trying to use it to charge another gps to see if it will charge, if it does, then the charger is okay but if it does not, then it is obvious that the charger is bad. And the solution to that is for you to replace the charger.
Also check the charging port on your gps and the port where you connect the charger on the car, if the two seem to be working when tested on another device.
That should do the job for you.

Unit shuts down while navigating with power cord plugged inalso seems to have dead pixels in screen

Dead pixels you can't do anything about without replacing the COLOR LCD TOUCH SCREEN. Which will probably cost as much as replacing the whole unit anyway.
As for shutting down while plugged in, that may be one of two things. Either the charging cord has gone bad (and they do go bad), or your not plugged into the lighter/charging port in your vehicle completely. Lastly, the charging cord for a Garmin GPS has a fuse in it, at the head that plugs into the charging port. Check it to see that it's not blown. Chances are it may be.

Charging problem

Hello,

If you are unable to charge your phone, there are two possible reasons that can cause this, first, i suggest you get a similar charger to charger to charge your phone, if the similar charger charge your phone, it means the charger of your phone is the problem, but if it did not, then it mean the problem is the charging port of your phone.

The charging port of your phone is bad that is the phone is not charging, i advice you replace the charging port of your phone after you have confirm the charger is not the problem.

The problem is limited to two above, either a bad charger or a bad charging port.

Take care.

Unable to charge the 3100. If charged via car

the Magellan Maestro can not be charged using the USB connection.

make sure green light is on if using the car charger and let it plugged in for awhile, then hold the power button (up to ten seconds) until it starts..if that fails

The following Magellan 800,860,2000,2200t,2500,3000,3050,3100,3140,4000,4040,4050 and the 6000t are known to have faulty dc connectors...if your Magellan gps is not charging or will not power up, its most likely the dc power port.

you can get it repaired here
or buy the port here

My magellan3225 will only work on the battery and it only last 30 min. It will not run on the car charger it only will charge battery. Should it not operate on the car power?

is common for the usb port to go bad on these models and many others...start the gps and go to the system setting then power, with the gps pludded into a known good charger, you should see the power meter moving from left to right. if it is not moving, its not charging unless ofcourse the battery is fully charged. and i would suspect the usb port is damaged.

Garmin gps won't charge while driving

If the Nuvi won't charge when connected to charge but charges on USB, then the charger port is faulty.

If the Nuvin does not charge at all , then the battery must be replaced.
