Please provide more information regarding the windows, and apps where you are seeing the tiny font sizes.
Are you seeing it within Internet Explorer windows, within application windows, the operating system itself, like desktop shortcuts, Windows Explorer, etc.
The answer to your problem is dependent on where you are seeing these tiny fonts.

It could be as simple as changing your display resolution, to changing your font DPI, or changing the zoom aspect from within your internet browser.

SOURCE: How to downgrade Windows 8 Professional to Windows 7 Professional?

You could try the system restore function and take it back to the day before you upgraded. Maybe you should have waited until Microsoft released the operating system, before upgrading (although it doesn't matter coz it is not very good- Windows Vista anyone?) If you notice Microsoft only seems to get every other OS right. I tried Win 8 on a touch screen desktop and it is going to make the breaking of the OS by users difficult, but also difficult for anyone to fix.

On Aol, I wish to change the font from 12 to 14 permanently not just for one "reply", ie, I want the default to be 14, not 12, is there a way to do this ??

TO CHANGE THE DEFAULT FONT SIZE FOR E-MAIL IN AOL 9.0/9.1
1) Click on the Settings button at the top of the AOL window.
2) Click on Font and Text.
3) Click on Font.
4) Click on the Down Arrow next to: Arial, then click on Times New Roman or whatever font you want.
5) Click on the Down Arrow next to 10 or whatever the font size is, and then click on the 12 or 14 or whatever font size you want. (The larger the number, the larger the font size.)
6) Under Text Settings, click on ₪ Small, ₪ Medium or ₪ Large [click on only one of these] for "Where possible, display the following size of text on AOL."
Note: This will change the font size for everything other than e-mail, chat messages and instant messages. (In other words, for web pages or for the general AOL pages.) 7) Click on Save.
8) Close the Font & Text window by clicking on the X button in the upper right-hand corner of the window.

I understand that you are having issue with the fonts in windows 7 64 bit operating system. You can restore the default font and remove any changes that you've made to your display settings from Appearance and Personalization.
Here's how:

a. Open Fonts by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Fonts.
b. In the left pane, click Font settings.
c. Click Restore default font settings.

Note

This also removes all manual changes that you've made to your display settings.

Refer the links for the information on;

My font always goes back to 10 after I have changed it for a document. I want it to stay where I put it.

If you are using Microsoft Word 2007 or 2010 follow this steps:

1. Click a tiny arrow at the font frame. The font frame is a box that contains the font name, font size, etc. At the right-down of the frame, you will find an arrow symbol.

2. When the font window opens, select the font size and other settings as required.

3. Click " Set as Default" button.

I hope this will assist you.

How to increase font size

You did not specify whether you have a Mac or PC that runs Windows (or even Linux, for that matter). These are the instructions for Windows 7:
To make the text on your screen larger or smaller
  1. Open Screen Resolution by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, and then, under Appearance and Personalization, clicking Adjust screen resolution.

  2. Choose one of the following:

    • Smaller - 100% (default). This keeps text and other items at normal size.

    • Medium - 125%. This sets text and other items to 125% of normal size.

    • Larger - 150%. This sets text and other items to 150% of normal size. This option appears only if your monitor supports a resolution of at least 1200 x 900 pixels.

  3. Click Apply.

To see the change, close all of your programs and then log off of Windows. This change will take effect the next time you log on.

How to change text size to be larger

This depends upon what program you are running.

If you mean the Internet, you can change the view settings on most browsers by zooming in (go to "View" in your toolbar).

If it's a Microsoft application like "Word" or "Excel", you can increase the font size or the magnification of the document - again, from the toolbar.
