Reddy heater won't stay on

I have a 35,000 btu reddy heater that will fire up if I push the button, but it will only push heater for maybe 15 seconds or so and then shut down. If I push the button, it fires again, but merely repeats shutting down after 10, 15 seconds. What's wrong?

Sounds like a Thermal Cut-off this is a small sensor that detects if the heater has ignited properly, sounds like this sensor has failed and the heater shuts off to prevent from gassing anyone

Just go to Tate Heater repair shop for heaters and replace the Thermal Switch. The part number for the Switch is 113848-01. See if they have one if not they can order it for you. I just fix mine and it is now it purs like a kitten. Just the way the manufacture intended. I went also went down the road of buying a new thermocouple to find out that I did not need it. My advice change the less expencive Thermal Switch first in your part replacement list.

What is the model number? Could be a number of things, depending on which technology is used on your particular 55,000 btu heater.

Yep, sounds like you got it. Unscrew the fitting at the gas valve and take the thermocouple to a reputable Propane Gas supplier. They can match it up for you or you can order one off the internet.
