SOURCE: vizio hdtv 32 inch wont come on.
More then likey you have a bad mainboard. Especially for the 32inch and below its usally the mainboard rather then the powerboard.
The tv parts are modular you can usally buy parts on ebay. I dont recomend soldering or anything like that, just a simple board swap will do.

Here a way,u could test,if it the cable signal,tv Main tuner board have problem or the DVR box again.U have analog antena?Or go and a buy a digital antena.Reset ur tv to free air signal and use it for few hours, turn it off/on and see if u losing signal, require unplug, replug to get signal back. Two problems solved ur tv board or cable signal good or not?Than U know it the DVR box and have connecting problems.

Pull the back off of the screen and look at the bottom between the two speakers you will see a little box with a few wires going off to one of the printed circut boards. I have never seen one fail before, most of the time its the remote/dead batteries etc.

SOURCE: Can't see picture
You either have bad 24vdc power supply or shorted out backlight inverter board, those are the two place to look, dead T-CON board can cause no picture on the screen, the screen will glow slightly.
Please read on:
First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board.
if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there are some troubleshoot you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools, electronics knowledge, and know safety precaution then please read on:
Please see my basic troubleshooting guide here:
Please post back what you find.
