How can I test the motor relay on a Magimix food processor?

Overloading may have caused a thermal protector buried in the motor windings to open in which case the motor will have to be replaced.

What happens if my magic bullet overheated

Hi Emma,

These small appliances are designed for low loads for short durations followed by long periods of rest because they are not made with components for anything more than that. This helps keep the cost down - and probably contributed to your decision to buy it. Overheating causes parts to expand. This results in more friction and slows the motor. If allowed to operate to the point of the motor shutting off, you may have permanently damaged the motor (once a device has overheated this way - the life expectancy of the device is reduced - sometimes significantly) Allow it to cool completely and see if it will operate with no load. If it doesn't - you'll probably need to replace it. If it does, try putting something in it to see if it works. If it does, monitor how long it runs for - and check to see if it is overheating - if you sense and overheat condition - shut it off at once and consider replacing it.

I press a button n it blinks then all the buttons start blinking and the motor never starts.

The motor is most likely open circuit. Solutions are going to be either replace the motor OR if the thermal fuse on the windings is blown you will need to get one of the same value and replace it. The value is written on the fuse and it is under some fibreglass tape on the field winding with the aluminium clip around it. You need to remove the motor completely to do it.

Fuse replacement

The thermal fuse in your food processor could be buried in the motor windings. As a general rule, it is not advisable to substiturte fuse types and ratings.

Motor keeps stopping

If you are making it do alot of work it may be slowing down enough to heat up. This will trip a thermal cutoff. Fortunately that one resets and you don't have to have an expensive repair. But now it may have overheated a few times and will start to burn off the varnish that insulates one winding from another. It will eventually burn out if you work it too hard. Can you get a more powerful one? Do you do this often?

I was blending smoked salmon and my processor over heated and now its not working. Will it work when it cools down?

Your food processor may operate normally after cooling down. However, there is a possibility that the motor became so overheated an internal thermal fuse opened up in which case repair or replacement may be required

Blown fuse on a Cuisinart DLC-2011

The manual indicates there is an auto-reseting thermal cutout that turns the motor off if overheated.

If there is an internal fuse that has blown, there LIKELY is other damage that needs to be addressed. A fuse will have markings on it for the value. An appliance repair part outlet should be able to supply parts for this unit.

Need to locate fuse

a thermal fuse may be located near the motor to sense an overheated motor. the fuse may be about 1/2 inch long and about 1/8 inch cylinder with two wire connections. these are available at Radio Shack or more. match the temperature rating...read the print on cylinder. if none found, look on circuit board for any print starting with letter "F". that part may be a fuse.
