Follow the steps below to troubleshoot if the computer does not recognize the USB connection from the camcorder.

  1. Turn off the camcorder.
  2. Ensure the USB cable is connected securely to the camcorder.
  3. Ensure the other end of the USB cable is connected securely to the USB port on the computer. NOTE: Connection through a USB hub is not supported.
  4. With the exception of the mouse, keyboard, and camcorder, remove any other USB connected devices from the computer.
  5. Turn on the camcorder.
  6. On the camcorder LCD screen, touch the computer or hard disk icon.
  7. If the issue is still not resolved, connect the USB cable to a different USB port on the computer.
  8. If the issue is still not resolved, try uninstalling and reinstalling the USB driver.
  9. If the issue is still not resolved, test the USB port on the computer by connecting a different USB device.

  • If the other USB device operates, the USB cable may need replaced or the camcorder may require service.
  • If the other USB device does not operate, then the issue is being caused by the computer. If the computer is connected to a network, try disconnecting it from the network or connect the camera to a computer that is not on a network. In addition, mapped drives may cause connection issues; drive designations D, E, or F must be available. It may be necessary to contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer.

I will forward a link to a page where you can get the steps to transfer the videos from the Camcorder to the Computer.

I am trying to down load video on dcr-pc101e pal tape to my mac. I have connected via usb but the mac does not seem to recognise the camera. How do I successfully download video to mac?

Use a firewire cable to connect your camera to your Mac. Have your camera at the place you want to start copying and put it in play back mode. Open iMovie in your Mac. In the iMovie window, move the little blue button to the left (to the camera icon). Then click the Import button at the bottom of your picture. If you haven't used iMovie before play around with it. It's a great movie editing program.
Good luck!

Please help me find a software driver dl for the camera DCR-TRV22 compatible with the mac osx 10.5.8

You should be able to connect with a firewire cable and use iMovie which will be on your Mac. No other software is necessary. Also you can use Final Cut if you have that loaded on your Mac.

I Have a Sony DCR-HC90 and I'm having trouble connecting my camera into my mac. I Have a usb cable but the camera won't connect to my computer

USB will only download still photos or movie shorts stored on a card. eg memory stick.
If no card is in the camera then no connection.
If you wish to capture movies stored on the tape, you will require a firewire cable to connect.
Use iMovie to capture the footage or another Mac application like Final Cut if availble on your Mac.

I appear unable to obtain a dcr-hc24 handycam driver for my IMAC?

Not needed.
Connect your camera to the Mac with a four to six pin firewire cable and you will be able to capture.
Note: Some newew Macs have 800 firewire ports which use a nine pin cable.

Do you make a firewire compatible with Handycam DCR-DVD105E and a Mac pc? Mac does not support minidiscs. I also have an external minidisc drive which allows me to play the discs on the Mac but I want to...

If you can "play" the minidisc into the Mac, it should be possible to "copy" the files onto the Mac's disk-drive, at maximum-speed, rather than playing them in "real-time" mode.

The Sony MZ-RH1 mini-disk player allows "digital" file-transfer of the contents of minidisks into a computer, through a USB (not Firewire) connection.
