Chipped PS2 suddenly stopped reading

My PS2 is chipped and bought it in thailand. I have propergames and and also some copied games that came with the PS2. I had no problem at all playing and i have this for like 1 year now. I was playing it yesterday but it took me time to start up as it didn't recognize it as a PS2 disc (but recognizes in the browser). The propergames works fine (My monster hunter 2 and Lego star wars works fine but i tried playing kindom hearts II and other copied games but it seems like it doesn't recognize it as a PS2 Disc.
I am not sure if its the lens because it worked then i turned it off right before the dinner and came back then i faced the problem. I don't have kids or dogs or anybody who would've broke the PS2 and i did not touch it..... Pleaseee i need your help
MY PS2 Startup depends on how long i hold the button 1)If i simply click it has a black screen and perhaps this is DVD player  2)If i hold it until the drive start and let go as soon as it start ups. It goes to the browser menu after the "Sony Computer Entertainment" 3)Hold it until 2 seconds after the drive starts up then it will read the proper games but the screen is black when i play fake 4) hold it for more than 3 i get to "Please insert PS2 or PSone disc" after "Sony Computer Entertainment"

It sounds like your mod-chip has somehow come loose. Try to get the chip resoldered and if you might not know how to do this, try to find somebody who can.

That is strange how the boot-up sequence can change. When You bought it, it sounds like it got mod-chipped when you bought it. if are one on the techy side of life then you can open your ps2 and look for one (google mod chip). Also the chance of one being there is higher because it can play copied games. Even though you bought it with the copied games, 1) copied games are illegal, and , 2) PS2's shouldn't be able to play copied games cause it wasn.t designed too.

I hope i helped,

MY ps2 Doesnt read PS2 Cd games

If you are trying to read a burnt game, you need it chipped first. If not, maybe your game is burnt or scratched. Some video stores will fix them for free. (Movie Gallery is where I go)

Upgrade PS2

well 2 things, 1 HD i don't think works on a PS2, but it does on a PS3 with a HDMI lead, also, playing copied games, watching copied DVD's and listening to copied CD's is illegal unless you have the originals of those discs, in which case use the originals or get ur ps2 chipped in a Computer fair (NOT RECOMMENDED)

Some games are for other regions of the world, the machines are made to only play certain regions games, hence people chipping them, the downloaded games may be missing encrypted data, thus wont play.

Chipping is a waste of money, do a softmod. It does everything that a chipped PS2 will do. All it takes is a little more work to play the games. Read my forum post on it.

Ps 2 chipped

I have also envountered problems with dogs life, my only reasonable explination is:

dogs life is most propably written on a normal CD-R,

and sometimes a chipped PS2 struggles to read CD-R games, you will also find that older PSX games wont work either, hope this is of some help.

have a blessed day.
