Question about Epson Stylus 1400 InkJet Photo Printer

1 Answer

Printing problem My EPSON C1100 is working a treat when it is printing text. When I want to print a coloured picture the paper wraps around the heating roll and sticks totally. To get it out I often have to disassemble the heating unit. Furthermore I think the heating roll gets very hot. What's the problem and how to fix it? Is it a defective heating unit?

Hi when I print out in colour on the epson aculaser c1100, I get a smudge of yellowish pale colour on the right handside of the paper how do we fix this problem

Click here for the manuel. It will walk you through cleaning the cartriges. In most cases using the built in self-clean will take care of the smudge. You can also try removing the cartige and cleaning it and the housing with a damp q-tip or cotton swab.

Hi there, I have an Aculaser C1100. It works fine except that print is ever so slightly slanted, almost as if it is taking the paper through at a slight angle. Its only noticable with text near to the top...

Your paper tray should have a guide that sets the size of the paper. Make sure that guide is in the proper size position so your paper doesn't have freedom to slide around as the printer is pulling it in.

Epson Acculaser c1100 ink blead

First rule out that it is a paper issue by trying a different type of paper

If that dosnt work
check if the gradation setting is too small when printing graphics. On the Basic Setting menu in the printer driver, click More Settings, adjust the gradation setting by sliding the Contrast slider bar

If that dosnt work
Clean the print head .
see steps at the bottom

If that dosnt work
It is starting to look like drum/photoconductor problem, this may need to be replaced (the most expensive solution)

Follow the steps below to clean the printer head.
r_1.gif Open the cleaner cover on the right side of the printer. Then, open cover A. d580095.gif
r_2.gif Pull the blue lever on the right inside of the printer. d580096.gif
r_3.gif Move the blue cleaner slowly in and out once. d580097.gif
r_space.gif r_note.gif Note: r_space.gif r_space.gif Move the cleaner completely in and out. Otherwise, the printer may not be cleaned effectively. r_4.gif Push back the blue lever on the right inside of the printer. d580098.gif
r_5.gif Close cover A, then the cleaner cover. d580099.gif

I have been outsourcing business card printing. If I wanted to do this in house, what kind of printer and software should I look into getting. I have been online all day and really haven't been able to...

A cheap colour laser such as the Epson AcuLaser C1100 will do a reasonable job for such cards up to around 210gsm. These can be a reasonably cheap machine to run. Up to A4 size printing 25ppm simplex

If you want much better than 1200dpi business colour then you need to be looking at ink jet machines. The Epson R1800 is another good machine capable of perfect photo prints on matt glossy and others. However, ink jets can be expensive to run and also take longer to print every page. Up to A3 but at a sedate pace.

You could look at higher volume/pages per minute printers like the Ricoh CL7000 (2nd hand option) or the CL7200 (new model) ( which is a decent speed (up to 32ppm B&W) with 1200dpi and loads of options such as duplex, finishers, and handles paper to 163gsm via the bypass tray (offers straighter path than incorporated trays). You can even add a scanner unit to make the machine into a full scale A3 copier too. Be prepared for a high price tag though, but I have seen machines like this with over 1m copies still going strong.

As regards to software - it depends on how easy or flexible you want to be. I like Corel Draw as you can do lots of importing of pictures etc, create text and use boxes etc of dimensions you specify. Printing a single design multiple times on the same sheet of paper is easy as there are lots of layout options. You can get a trial version from here:

Hope this is helpful

Your application will actually override the settings of the printer, what i can suggest is for you to check if you are using the correct page length and margin setting in your software program.

Try using Laserjet 3 emulation driver as well

Print quality Epson C1100

It sounds as though a cartridge is faulty. To determine which one, the easiest way is to run a page of text/block of colour through in yellow then cyan then magenta. which ever page comes out with the streaks on it will tell you which cartyridge to ditch and replace. Hope this helps Cops
