If you remember the password, simply enter into the bios/cmos setup, go to the section to change the password, and leave the new password fields blank. I haven't looked at the manual for this specific MB, but that is the standard way to clear any passwords stored in bios. Hope that helps! Let me know!

Remove the CMOS battery for 10mins. When you replace the battery, the motherboard should reset to its factory condition with no supervisor password.

If you can't change the setting in the bios setup that means you have a bios supervisor password set. If you don't know the supervisor password you can reset the supervisor with Acer Bios Master Password from http://www.unlockbiosrecovery.com/Unlock_Acer_Bios.php for only $20

Unable to change bios settings

are you sure your are exiting the bios saving your changes?
if for some reason you are unable to save your changes it is possible that the cmos battery is going bad, replace the battery and test.

another reason why you may not be able to make any changes is because you may not be a supervisor or accessing the bios as a supervisor but as a user. you may have set a bios supervisor password. if you don't remember what that was you may have to reset the password:

to reset your password do the following:

  1. Turn off the computer.
  2. Open the computer case.
  3. Locate the blue J8C2 Flash/PWD jumper block on the motherboard.
  4. Place the jumper on pins 2 and 3 for clearing the passwords.
  5. Turn on the computer. Wait for an audible beep from the computer. A message appears stating that the NVRAM and password have been cleared.
  6. Turn off the computer.
  7. Place the jumper back on pins 1 and 2 for normal operation.
  8. Place the lid back on the case.
  9. Turn on the computer.
good luck!

Could you please guide me how to remove bois possword for travel mate5730g

Steps for Clearing BIOS Password Check
If users set BIOS Password (Supervisor Password and/or User Password) for a security reason, BIOS will ask
the password during systems POST or when systems enter to BIOS Setup menu. However, once it is
necessary to bypass the password check, users need to short the HW Gap to clear the password by the
following steps:

• Power Off a system, and remove HDD, AC and Battery from the machine.

• Open the back cover of the machine, and find out the HW Gap on M/B as picture.

• Use an electric conductivity tool to short the two points of the HW Gap.

• Plug in AC, keep the short condition on the HW Gap, and press Power Button to power on the
system till BIOS POST finish. Then remove the tool from the HW Gap.

• Restart system. Press F2 key to enter BIOS Setup menu.

• If there is no Password request, BIOS Password is cleared. Otherwise, please follow the steps and
try again.

NOTE: The steps are only for clearing BIOS Password (Supervisor Password and User Password).

Check below for the picture of the HW Password reser gap. The gap that needs to be "shorted" is G77.

How do i get the supervisor password?

it all depends on if it's bios or OS if it's bios you can reset the bios by opening the desktop panel and clear the cmos chip by taking the pin out and restart the system for about 10 seconds then turn off system and put back pin and go into bios set to defaults and that should clear it.But if it's OS you would have to buy a program that reset OS passwords like (reset password).

Supervisor password

A Supervisor password protects the system information stored in the BIOS. The user must enter the Supervisor password in order to get access to the ThinkPad BIOS Setup Utility in order to change the system configuration. If the Supervisor password is forgotten there is no way to reset it to enter the BIOS configuration. Setting a Supervisor password automatically sets the master Hard drive password. The following is the icon that comes up in the upper left corner if a Supervisor password is set:
A forgotten Supervisor password will prevent access to the ThinkPad BIOS setup utility. To regain access, the system will need to be serviced to have the system board and hard drive replaced. Proof of purchase is required, and this repair is not covered under the warranty.
