I need to replace the Beveled Gear for my Pro 600 mixer. it seemed an easy task. However, I am stuck in removing the Beveled gear. I cannot remove it after removing the retaining ring. help pls.

If you have the gear cases apart and the bevel gear exposed then you just push the planetary shaft up through the middle of the bevel gear. You will see that the shaft is driven by the gear via a loose fitting pin through the shaft. Pull the pin out (with fingers) and then the bevel gear will lift up off the shaft without the need to fully remove the shaft. Note the fibre spacer/thrust washer under the bevel gear between the bottom case and gear, don't lose it.

Drive gear is slipping. Motor turns but the blade fails to turn

sounds like a shear pin either on the motor or the blade assembly. If you put the blender on low without the cannister on top touch the gear on top of the unit and see if the gear slips or stops. Use a pencil or something..Not your finger. If it stoops then the pin is broken at the motor. If not, it is broken at the blade unit.

Hope this helps

Broken gear

The original parts have been obsolesced - this site has a variety of generic gears, but you may need to call them to help narrow down the choices:

Repairing the blender:
My guess: You worked the motor too hard on your last blending session and it overheated. That will cause a thermal fuse inside to cut off. The blender won't work again until you replace the fuse but otherwise it should be fine. The fuse looks like a white diode and it will be attached tightly to the motor with a nylon strap (so that it can pick up the heat of the motor). The leads to the fuse are shielded with heat resistant nylon wrap. You will need to remove the rubber drive gear in order to remove the plastic house so you can work, although if you are really handy you might be able to at least test the unit by only removing the plastic bottom on the base unit.

To remove the plastic housing, remove the little rubber feet and then remove all of the screws on the bottom of the unit. You may need to buy a bit set for tamper resistant screws (I ***hate*** those), I don't remember. When the bottom is removed, you will see that the there is a screw head on the bottom of the central motor shaft. You can use a screw driver here to hold the motor from turning, then you can carefully use a pliers to unscrew the rubber drive gear on the top of the base unit (try not to damage the rubber). With the gear removed you can get access to the wires.

To test the fuse unit, just check its continuity. Short=good, open=bad. To further test, short out the fuse with a jumper cable and your blender should work.

EPO (Electronics Parts Outlet) in Houston, TX, has the replacement fuse unit. I don't know that they like mail order.

Replace oster kitchen center base drive part

I'am the guy who posted the comment I found out how to do this.
There are 2 possible solutions the 2nd is not pretty, hope the first works for you it didn't for me.

1- The motor must be lock up, by placing a thin screwdriver through the holes in the base into the fan down into the motor, holding the screwdriver, remove the square drive from the top.The part you are trying to remove actually is screwed into a gear in the gear box, you will need a spanner wrench,(sometimes a strong pair of long nose pliers will work, engage the spanner holes, hold the screwdriver ,and try to unsrew it, you may need someone to hold the screwdriver, because it takes a lot of force to loosen it.These are regular threads, and unscew counter clockwise.

2- if #1 doesn't work-this will- but its not so pretty. The motor assembly attached to the gear box will have to be removed,it will come out as one piece
Remove the bottom plate, unplug the white wire from the speed control, and the blue- white wire from the board, also you will have to remove one of the brushes with the white -blk lead.
Now you will have to actually break off of the top plastic(bakelite)by whatever means you dream up (I actually used a small wood chisel to score a line, and crack it) once its cracked, it breaks apart easily.Once thats done turn it over and remove the four screws holding the gear box to the housing you will now be able to remove the gear-box motor assembly.
Remove the 3 screws from the top of the gear box pry the box open, remove the gear with the piece that needs to be replaced, now you need to get the piece unscrewed from the gear.I did this by locking the nurled end into a vise, and very carefully grabing the gear teeth with large channel locks(if you think of a better way thats great)it work for me,but I was very concerned about the gear teeth, you can't slip.
Try the new piece to make sure it sets all the way down to the bottom of the gear(it must or your head will be to high ,and won't lock down)if all is well, make sure everything is greased, and start re-assembly, the new coupler ,and the square drive will be the last 2 pieces assembled from the top, once again locking the motor with a small screwdriver.

Broken gear on BFP-703 base

The drive is replacable and available from Cuisinart, you will have to sign a waver to get the part. the drive is screwed onto the motor shaft with reverse threads. the plastic drive will have to be completely broken off of the unit to expose a brass"nut" which was internal to the drive. depending upon your model you may have to remove the lower half of the base unit to access the lower part of the motor shaft. there will be a slot in the end of the shaft for a large flat blade screwdriver. this is used to hold the shaft still while turning the drive "nut" with a vice grip pliar or similar. the new drive is just threaded onto the shaft and normal operation tightens it.
