SOURCE: need to remove drip pan

Hi, This pan can not be removed without taking the whole frame apart. Best thing is to try and get a long brush (hardware stores sell them) and try and clean it that way.
Using very hot water might help loosen the grime in the pan.
I hope this helps you.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.

SOURCE: drip pan

The drip pan is located behind the toe panel (grille) at the bottom. The pan should be located in the left side. If you have auto defrost, the pan may or may not have water in it. It is likely to have accumulated grunge which can be removed by a good wash and rinse, being careful to avoid breaking the pan during cleaning. Reinstallation is the reverse of removal.

My refrigerator freezer drips water down into the refrigerator section from the 2 openings. I have to catch it in 2 cups which I empty every few days. What is causing this and how do I fix it?

sounds like your drain for the freezer defrost is either frozen over, or the plastic line to the drip tray under the refrig is plugged. first thing is to check the drain hole itself. you can do this by removing everything from the freezer and removing the screws to the back plate and take the plate off. the drain is in the bottom usually the center. the drain to the drip pan is under the refrig, and there is a hose just above it. the end of the hose is usually pressed together for sanitary reasons, and sometimes it gets gunked up. sometimes just rolling it between your fingers will open it up, if you think it may be above sometimes inserting the straw from a compressed air can in to the end and holding it firm with your fingers, and blow it out.. works too.

I have a Samsung model RF4287HA French door refrigerator. Has anyone had success cleaning the drip pan located at the bottom rear of the refrigerator? I know that this pan can't be removed, but I can'

Hello Derek;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

In answer to your question, the drain pan is removable. This drain pan is available for purchase. The problem is both Samsung and LG are not service friendly. The drain pan is not secured with fasteners and just lifts up.

However, There is the interference from the seal system (refrigerant) tubing and compressor which prevents you from pulling the drain pan out.

On my service calls with drain pan leakage, I just repaired the drain pan with duct tape an silicone adhesive. Because I could not get the drain pan out with out moving the compressor.

Both, Samsung and LG are the worst service friendly and highest cost for repair.

Lfx25978st ice tray stuck

This sounds like a thermostat in the ice maker has failed. Unfortunately, LG provides no replacement parts for the ice maker. They say to just replace the assembly, so there is no alternative other than ice maker replacement. Here is the ice maker to order.

Water comes off somewhere in the bottom of my fridge. what could have caused it?

When your refrig goes into defrost , the water runs down the back of the refrig ( inside ) and out to the drip pan thru a drain hole under the crispers . If water is under the crispers , remove the crispers and you should see a " cap " covering the drain hole . Sometimes crud will cover the slots where the water is supposed to drain , causing water to pool under the crispers . Just remove this cap , clean , and reinstall .

We have a LG french door refrig, Model #LRFC25750TT. Ice forms in the bottom of the freezer which causes the door to stick when opening and closing. It appears that water may be coming from the vent on...

You have a frozen drain tube. Remove the back cover after unplugging the unit. Locate the drain tube running down to the drip pan. If it is frozen, thew it with a hair dryer. In the inside, find the drain hole and pour hot water in it until it drains properly. I f it happens again your defrost element is too far away from the aluminum drain pan and needs to be GENTLY lowered closer to the drain

We are getting an overflow of water in the pan in the bottom of the refrig. What causes that and can the pan be removed to empty?

This may sound strange, but the cause of your problem may be your icemaker. The fill tube may be leaking before it gets to the ice maker and causing the pan uner the fridge to fill up too much. try turning your ice maker off for a few days and see if the issue stops. Or you can see if the tube is loose or iced up. If it is iced up, you may have a bad water valve. If you need more assistance, let me know. Hope this helps!

The drain is clogged.

This water should be going down the drain to a pan under the ref.

The drain starts under the cooling coils in the freezer but can be clogged anywhere. Some models will have access in the main ref in the top - rear, a small cover can be removed. Some will have access on the back of the ref. you can see the drain tube and an elbow where it come out of the ref. remove the elbow and check for clogs.
