SOURCE: Removable grilles for easy cleaning?

We just figured this out ourselves. There are four (4) screws on the back of each fan that when undone it releases the grill for cleaning. But the fun part is getting the screws back in to the little holes. But all in all we got it clean...

SOURCE: need to remove gril to clean blade and grill

You can remove it by pressing the clips. I used a flat screwdriver as there was no way my thumb would fit in there. But it worked like a champ with the screwdriver. I pressed two clips and it popped and then I could simply lift the grill away from the fan blades.

Hy108tgt

Our HY-108 (not a HY-108TGT) does not have a filter when it was purchased new from a Retailer.

IMHO, Honeywell/KAZ designed these Tower Fans to be disposable if they fail to work or need cleaning.

These Fans are hard to disassemble for service or maintenance, OEM replacement Parts are unavailable to the general public, service documentation is hard to find, and the Tower Fans tend to have a short Product lifespan. THEY BREAK EASILY! The OEM Service Manual points to replacing complete parts assemblies because few electronics diagnostics and no schematics are provided.

The HY-108 case can start to be disassembled (I have done so on ours) by *First* removing the screws and separating/removing the plastic Base from the main Case assembly. *Second* remove the Phillips-Head screws on the back of the Case. *Third*, the internal plastic 6 Tabs that keep the 2 halves held together need to be gently separated - careful, they break easily. You need to gently loosen the internal plastic "Tabs" by using a thin flat-head screwdriver to gently and carefully separate the outer shell cover.

UNIT WILL NOT COOL. FAN AND HUMIDIFIER WORK. THIS IS ONLY THE SECOND SEASON USED AND THE UNIT HAS NEVER BEEN SITTING UP AND NEVER LAID DOWN OR TURNED UP SIDE DOWN. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

Hello,
A portable air conditioner may not cool for several reasons. Check the filter by removing the unit's grill and clean the filter.
Also check for clogs in the evaporator or condenser coils by light vacuuming. Make sure the evaporator isn't frosted over, but if it is, allow it to defrost and normal operation should resume.
Lastly, ensure the ambient temperature is lower than your AC's set temperature, as this can prevent cooling. However, if all of these steps fail to resolve your problem, the compressor may be malfunctioning, and in this case, the compressor needs to be replaced or repaired.
In summary, if the air won't cool, remove the grill and clean the filter. Clean out any clogs in the evaporator or condenser coils by vacuuming them and scrubbing them lightly with an old toothbrush. And since fan is working, you compressor might be defective.
I hope the above information is clear.
Regards.

Loud humming on my TW90. I'm assuming fan problem but how easy to check/fix?

There should be a small removable grill with a filter. Try cleaning the filter before you fix anything else. If it is a foam filter, you can clean it with soap and water. Make sure it is completely dry before reinstalling. If you have a paper filter, just blow it off.

LG dehumidifier, LHD65EBL does not draw water and there should be buckets, in this heat wave we are having here. I checked the troubleshooting guide in manual, still not working.

A dehumidifier uses fans to draw in moist air. The air is first passed through a filter to remove dust and particles, then to a cold evaporator where the moisture condenses into water. The water is then collected in a container for disposal. Check and clean filter. The filter and coils are clogged with dirt. Unplug the dehumidifier, then remove and empty the water-holding tank.
Remove the front and back grills. You'll have to either use a putty knife and pry between the top of the grill and the cabinet body to release the catches, or use a screwdriver to unscrew the fasteners.Clean the filter with a mixture of warm, soapy water and bleach. The bleach will kill any mold or mildew, so it won't be blown around the room when the machine is running.Clean the evaporator coils, using a vacuum with brush attachment. Remove any stubborn dirt with a scrub brush and a household spray cleaner, such as Formula 409. Scrub lightly so you don't bend the fins covering the coils.
  • Clean the fan blade and the other parts inside the cabinet, using the vacuum and crevice attachment.
  • Reassemble the dehumidifier, reinstall the water-holding tank and plug in the unit.
    Then check out.
Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

    Can't remove the vent grill

Two problems found. The electrician that installed the micro. installed it incorrectly. The fan was supposed to be turned so that the exhaust would go through the pre-installed duct in the wall. To remove the grill, there is two screws on top of the micro. which have to be removed. The builder put in a deeper cabinet that covers the screws because it looks better. To fix it I have to drop the micro, take off the grill, clean it and all the grease off the micro., replace the charcoal filter, turn the fan so it will exhaust through the duct and reinstall the micro.
