SOURCE: karcher pressure washer motor buzzes when switched on

I am no electrician but open black plastic case and check capacitor .If it does not show burnt signs then smell it to see if its burnt. It could be a number of other things if it is not a capacitor.
remember to short the terminals on the capacitor with an insulated screwdriver . a capacitor sort of acts like a battery and can sometimes store a nasty charge .BE careful or have a sparky check it for u .They should not charge u much to do a 5 second test with a meter

When you turn the on/off switch to on position it just buzzes and then turns off.

This problem, is most probable due to a faulty condenser (capacitor). If one changes the capacitor and the machine works....one must see why the capacitor went faulty. This could be due to a faulty pressure regulator (Spill Valve) or faulty inlet and suction valves. If before the machine went buzzing, it started jerking and going on and off.....then as I said the regulator or valves are faulty. When this happens, the capacitor goes over active and will stop functioning. This information is general, because I do not know what model you have.
Regards,
MG.

Motor seized up! You can try turning it manually. If it moves freely then yes motor has burnt out! If it has resistance, try turning it until it moves freely then try to run the washer! Best of luck

Karcher K2.94 intermittent pumping and buzzing

try the machine with the lance removed from the gun.

buzzing is usually the noise made by the motor when it cant turn. if the pump start to pruduce pressure but the pressure builds up too high then the motor will stop turning... faulty lance or faulty spill valve (dump valve)

If you have a Karcher then you should always post your machines barcode.
The karcher barcode is on a silver sticker and is usually 15 digits long. Example 156987400000123 is actually model 1.569-874.0 and serial number 00123....

This machine was purchased in October 2008. Has had minimum use because of water restrictions in Brisbane and since that has changed started using it more recently and now won't go. When turned on the...

this sounds like it could use a new capacitor. What the capacitor does is jump starts the motor and fan in order to run the machine. It is not a costly part to change and you should get the part at your local dealer/supplier as the K5.93 isn't that old of a model. There is a simple test that the technichian can do to make sure if its the capacitor.

If you give me the 1.xxx-xxx.0 number on your machine silver plate I can get the exact part number for you.

My karcher hds 745 has started blowing fuses. it switches on the power light comes on and it makes a buzzing noise for about five seconds and then blows the mains 13amp fuse. i have replaced it twice but...

you have an electrical short in the motor windings. you'll have to either replace the motor or buy another washer. also check to see if the motor isn't locked up with a piece of trash. to do that you'll have to dissassemble housing until you get to the motor. it should turn easily by hand. if so you have a short.

I have a Karcher K 3.86 M electric PW with a similar problem: water leaks from the pump near the outlet and the pressure surges on and off continuously at intervals of 1-2 seconds. The leak appears to be coming from a very thin crack in the plastic pump head in what I think is the "unloader" valve portion. I read elsewhere that if you leave water in these PW's and it freezes it will crack, causing leaks. I don't know how you can empty all the water out so I think we must store these PW's in areas that won't freeze in winter.
