DI 514 and Skyway

I have Skyway satellite internet. I can access the Skyway modem if the modem is connected to the Computer via Ethernet cable. When I route it through the DI 514 I can access the internet but not the modem. Have set the WAN with the correct IP, gateway and DNS as specified by Skyway. I have also changed the value of MTU without success. Any Ideas?

Re: DI 514 and Skyway

If A is the skyway modem with the adress
if B is the DI 514 WAN port with the adress and set as gatway
and if C is your computer with the adress and set as gatway
and if D is the di 514 LAN port with the adress

than it works
"When I route it through the DI 514 I can access the internet but not the modem" u dont route it, u NAT it. so if u cant acces it with the right setings then try to xpoze yor computer host in DMZ seting

There's no need for any CD-ROM.

Use an Ethernet cable to connect your cable-modem (or DSL-modem) to the WAN port on the router.

Use another Ethernet cable to connect your computer to one of the 4 'LAN' ports on the router.

Restart your computer.
Click Start
Click Run
Type CMD
Press Enter
Press Enter
Look for output like: Default Gateway .... 123.456.1.1
Start Internet Explorer
Type http://123.456.1.1
Press Enter
Login to the router's web-site (try 'admin' & "blank"; try 'admin' & 'admin'; try "blank" & 'admin')
Run the router's "Wireless Networking Setup Wizard" to configure the wireless adapter.

I am trying to connect my new router to my laptop, but the instructions say i should connect my pc to the internet by connecting my ethernet cable to the problem is i have only one connection and...

Modem <-- Ethernet cable --> WAN port on router

LAN port #1 on router <--- Ethernet cable --> network-port on desktop computer

LAN port #2 on router <-- Ethernet cable --> network-port on laptop computer

If the router has built-in "wireless" capability, then use the desktop computer's connection to the router to "configure" the wireless adapter, i.e., pick an SSID, and establish a password, and then your laptop computer can use the SSID/password to connect "wirelessly" to the router.

I don't know how to connect my router. please help

If you have DSL or cable internet, disconnect the ethernet cable going from the DSL or cable internet modem to the computer. Disconnect the end of that cable that plugs into the modem. Connect an ethernet cable from your cable or DSL modem to the router where it says something like "modem", "internet", or "in". If the router is a wired router, connect the ethernet cable that is still attached to the computer to any open ethernet port on the router.

How to connect wireless router to adsl router?

You're wanting to connect the directly connect the DI-514 to the ASDL modem to give you a wireless network, right? If so here's what you do:
Connect an ethernet line from the modem to the Internet/Wan port of your DI-514 and then you're set. I recommend you then follow the directions in the manual to setup wireless security.

If you're wanting to have your DI-514 wirelessly connect to the ASDL modem, then connect your PC to one of the LAN ports of the DI-514 and open the administrative web interface (usually located at and go to the wireless section and select "Wireless Client" and input the MAC of the ASDL modem's wireless interface (you can find this on the administration web interface of the ASDL modem) and you should be good to go.

Help connecting Cable Internet through D-Link DI-514 Router

what may be happening is the wireless pc as it was; needs the dns and ip address flushing, also the pc you connected the router to as you must have conflicting ip addreses Click start run then type ipconfig /flushdns. You should ensure that the router is set to enable DHCP to assign ip addreses and make sure your'e network cards on all pc's are set to obtain ip address automaticaly in the TCP/IP properties. Restart the pcs and type in your web browser and get into your router setings and check in the DHCP section that all pc's have been given an ip address. If all fails you may need to reset the router
