I don't know if that is true or not. I ahve not heard of anything like that. You can go to Target, Walmart, or any video game retailer and they should have wired ones for a cheap price. I have one that I bought For SOCOM before it was stolen and now I use the headset for my laptop. The cord is fairly long so you can sit just about anywhere and have it work. I paid like 15 bucks for mine at Target.

Passkey

The passkey is 0000. If you have a problem, reset the headset. Turn the headset off and hold down the call button for 8 seconds until the headset flashes blue and red signaling that it is in pairing mode for the next 120 seconds. While the headset is in pairing mode, use the phone menu to search for Bluetooth devices and select "220Plantronics." (If the headset is already listed in the Bluetooth menu, delete it before searching to pair the device.) When prompted for a passkey, enter 0000. Headset will falsh blue when paired successfully.

Trying to connect to bluetooth

PUT HEADSET IN PAIRING MODE

1. Ensure the headset is turned off (indicator light not blinking and headset
boom is closed)
2. Press and hold the Call button. After about 4 or 5 seconds, the indicator
light becomes steadily lit in magenta
3. Release the Call button and immediately open the headset boom. The
indicator light remains lit in magenta.

If the indicator light is flashing in blue or not steadily lit when opening the
headset boom, repeat steps 1 through 3

Just not connecting

It may be set at 108mbps and your ps2 will probably only able to cope with 54mbps, so set the adapter to 54mbps to match the ps2.
