SOURCE: Oven Door Locked
the oven door does lock during self clean, otherwise it will not work. however, the door is supposed to unlock after the oven has cooled. if it is still locked, turn the oven to self clean and wait about a minute and then hit cancel and see if the door unlocks. if not, there may be a probelm with the door lock mechanism. sounds as if there is a problem with the latch assy, there are 2 switches mounted on the latch mechanism for monitoring positon of hte switches, seems as if one has gone bad, not recognizing the door lock positon therfore continues to rotate without stop.part number for the motor latch assy w/switch and bracket 318095957 . located behind rear panel

I had the same problem happen tonight. I have an XL44 self-cleaning gas range. We unplugged it for several minutes and pressed 'cancel' a bunch of times--neither worked. We finally lucked out--opened the oven door and pressed a black button on the upper left side of the front of the oven. It turned out the flashing words and unlocked our door. Weird. There was nothing in the manual about this...

SOURCE: Maytag Oven Door is locked
I had the same problem. Unplugging the oven didn't solve it, as the same "F9" message appeared when restarted.
Here's what worked: start a cleaning cycle, and then hit cancel. I leaned on the door just a little, the latch stopped making the "clicking" noise, and then the lock light turned off and the door opened.

Happens alot dont feel bad , self clean mode runs the elements at 500 deg. to cook off everything possible , what happens is the cabinet gets to hot and heats saftey temp. fuses until they go out and they are not resetable. they are always located in different areas of ranges but usaully in the back. you can ohm them out to check them if you have a meter.let me know if you have any other questions.
