lister for a clicking from the start motor you may need some to help you. if you or your friend hear the click on the starter motor then the motor and it does not turn the engine or goes crunch like its engaged but does not turn,It will need replacing or fixing, if no click this could be the starter relay or the ignition switch or you have a lose wire tot he relay.

2005 Dodge Stratus R/T 3.0 Auto...No Start,No crank.

How many miles are on the beast? This vehicle has a timing belt and is an interference engine. If you have more then 60K on it and have never replaced the timing belt......well. There is the outside possibility that a broken timing belt could have occurred, causing other internal broken parts and possibly an engine lockup. Put a socket on the crank pulley bolt and try to manually turn the engine clockwise. If it turns, then things probably aren't too bad. It could just be a bad starter motor. If it won't turn clockwise, try counterclockwise. If something broke and jammed the pistons, this may allow it to break free. If this works, DO NOT TRY TO START THE CAR! Something is wrong inside the motor and trying to crank or start it will just make things worse.

Why Craftsman riding mower wont turn over & only makes click sound when turn key on??

1.try jumping the battery with your car battery. I have had same issue in the past with a brand new battery.
2. Try spraying starter fluid into the carb while cranking. If it starts or at least tries to start (assuming cranking is fixed), you have a fuel problem. Again, when I first tried to fire my Used mower, had to use starter fluid to get it to start the first time, but never since.

Will not start, battery is new, it just clicks and nothing. turn it off, try again and nothing, try again and it starts

Try cleaning and tightening well the battery connections along with the battery wires to the solenoid and starter motor.

Bad connections and low voltage of 12 volts can result in this anomaly.

Hi Kelly,
sounds like your battery is a bit sick. Or it could be the starter motor solenoid sticking.
The click you are hearing is probably the starter motor solenoid. If you hear a series of loud clicking its usually due to a flat battery in which case you need a jump start from another car.
If you can get someone to charge up your battery using a portable charger and the car starts OK, its a fair bet your battery is on it's way out. You can get your battery tested at any large reputable auto repair shop.
If the battery is OK, the solenoid can get stuck on your starter motor. Often a light tap with a rubber or wooden mallet can free up a stuck solenoid, but ultimately you will need a new starter motor. (BTW The solenoid is the smaller bit attached to your starter motor. There will be heavy wires attached to it) Have a look at link 1 below for more info.

Have a look here for some info to help you understand your starter circuit:

My 2005 Polaris 500 H.O. will not power up. The batery is good, there is just nothing when I turn the key. I don't even know where to start looking! Please help, I need my machine! Thanks. Steve

Its probably the electronic control module. Try leaving the key on for a while, if you do start to get something and it comes and goes, its the ECM. I had the same problem with my 07 EFI 500.
