Try using multiple DVDs and Also check the DVD region code if that may be causing the problem....Ensure that the media player you are using has the required codecs...VLC Player supports many codecs so check if that might be the problem VLC Player can be downloaded from www.videolan.org

check with original CD (silver)
if you mean you cant find your dvddrive Icon in mycomputer open the case and check your dvd writer cable (is connected correctly)
if there is two dvdrom in your case
or both connected in one cable (ide)
you have to set your drive master and slave with the jumper's in back side of dvdrom

Won't read disk

The first step is to check the disc. If you are sure this is not aproblem with the game disc, then this is usually a problemwith either the laser inside of the Wii's drive, or some other issuegoing on inside of the DVD drive. The following website sells the DVDdrive mechanisms and does repairs on the Wii as well:

hey problem is the drive key on your dvddrive doesn't match the new m/board you put in...??
you need to get the drive key off the new m/boards original drive and flash it tot your driv.... each m/board has a matching key on there dvd drive.

Cd/dvd drive device is broke

There is a reason most DVD readers, writers are so cheep is because they are warranted for 1 year. If you're NEC is less than a year old & you have a recipt you can send it back to NEC for a new one. If you need another DVD player to replace a bad DVD drive & want to buy one, I can suggest a couple.

Philips dvd burn not burning?

1. see to it that you have set your burning software to write to the disk.
2. try to use it on a cd, if it finishes the job, something is wron with your dvd drive.
3. make sure that the drive you have is really a dvddrive and not a cd drive.
4. upgrade youe burning software.
