HP Deskjet All-in-One F2280 will print/photocopy but won't scan!
I have a HP GP70000 laptop (G7015EA to be exact) and have just bought the above All-in-one printer. It has taken absolutely ages to install (back and forth, restarting, installing/uninstalling over 9 hours). The installation gets to part 3/4, gets stuck at 94% and then says ERROR: FAILED. It's due to my drivers it seems. But if I have the software, why oh why won't the thing scan?!
I am baffled and frustrated. I have downloaded the software directly from the internet, just in case there is a problem with the CD-ROM itself.

I have got exactly the same problem. E shown. F2280 does not copy. Otherwise it prints and scan request from PC working. I do hope, somebody reads the question, understands what is said and has a solution. Thanks in advance. AOS
I fixed this by Installing the full suite of programmes on the installation CD, specifically Installing the "OCR Isis" programme (or Iris, not sure).
I had the scan-to-pdf option, but then when I reinstalled my system it was no longer available. I tried updating Adobe Acrobat reader to v9.0 and I don't think this fixed it. But at the same time I installed the "extra" programmes of the HP Installation CD, and then the scan-to-PDF feature was back.
So basically, install the COMPLETE set of programmes on the HP installation CD seemed to fix this.
I have a HP Deskjet F2180 printer, but I suspect that the HP software is generic across alot of its product range.
There is an OCR reader in the programs included with the install disk. This OCR will break down your entire document for editing. If you don't have the disk, it very simple to get all the software from the site.
you can try clicking MY COMPUTER then C: then PROGRAM FILES then Hp then Destination folder then bin then find the hpscnapp with a printer icon.Scan will work.Hp 2280 frequently encounters error especially if you're using VISTA. Hope i helped! Good day!
Same thing happened to me and I took it back to the store, where I bought it from. They replaced it with a new one and told me that it didn't have any software installed, like if you have a motherboard without bios ..
