Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

PS3 + UPDATE = bad for me

My 60G PS3 worked fine until I downloaded the newest update yesterday. At first any time I reset the system after update, it would immediately go into the installation screen again then the screen would just go black. Now when I try resetting it, it doesn't even do that much. The light comes on, but the screen just goes black.
I tried everything from checking the channel on my TV to unplugging the system and allowing it to sit overnight, but nothing works. I called Sony & they just want me to mail it to them to repair for $159+.
I would even be willing to reset everything to default if only I could access anything >.<
Any help is appreciated!

    OK I removed the hard drive and rebooted the system, both of my TVs said "Unusable Signal", so I don't know if there was a menu. I do know that the PS3 automatically shut itself down after a minute or so.

    Other than that, when I put the hardrive back in, there was still no menu and the screen was still just black.

    My TVs just say "Unusable Signal" with the Hard Drive out, but in both cases (both suggestions), the only thing I can tell is that the system automatically shuts off after a short time.

    They seemed pretty eager to get my money... Would replacing the hard drive fix the problem? And if so, I wouldn't lose backwards compatability would I?

Do you still get the same menu on screen?

    Hold down the power button until you hear the second beep, quickly release.

    Sorry to say she's got a date with Sony.


    You might be able to get a free repair if you bug and bug about how it ONLY happened after the firmware update. Their tech's know this system so maybe you could convince them to admit that it was the firmware's fault and not yours explicitly.

    Keep in mind this is a corporation...and corporations are all about making money and being robots.

    No replacing the hard drive will do nothing.

    You won't lose backwards compatibility no matter what you do with the exception of changing the motherboard with a different model.

You can update your ps3 without going online on the ps3. Go to on your computer and download the newest update. Download it to a flash drive. Insert this into the USB port of your ps3. save it to your hard drive, and then update your system from the XBM. Also, newer games (little big planet 2) have the firmware on them so if you buy/rent them, you can install from the disc.

1) Place you finger on the on/off sensor keep it their until your console turn off. Remove your finger.

2) Place you finger back on the on/off sensor keep it their until you hear 2 consecutive beeps then take your finger off.

3) Choose the last option PS3 SYSTEM RESTORE.

NOTE: A system restore will delete all saved game data. It is recommend backing up your console if possible.

My son turned his PS3 off during a system update and now everything he tries to play won't let him and says error code 8003051e. What do I do to fix this problem?

Ok what I recommend doing is these steps and you should be gaming again:
1. Start Ps3 and in the title menu to Account Management. 2. Click Account Management. 3. Go to System Activation. 4. DO Ps3 System NOT "Psp System". 5. Choose game then select deactivate ps3. (Why? so that way you can log in as your profile later.) 6. Once done go to System Settings. 7. Go down until you see Restore PS3 System. 8. Click it and select yes. (Once you say yes it will restore your ps3 to factory settings, It will take either 2 hours - 8 Hours. Depending on how much memory it has built in.) 9. Once done Download newest updates and let it download. 10. Once complete you should be playing video games in no time. Have Fun Gaming.

If your PS3 is connected online it should have the newest update already. In the event it's not. You want to go to sony playstation insert a USB thumbdrive into your computer. Download the newest update, insert thumbdrive into the USB of the PS3 under system settings select install update. It will take a few minutes then your PS3 is up to date.

it sounds like you have a bad internet connection try to move the ps3 closer to the router if you can if not try to disconnect the internet from your system after this you should be able to go onto the ps3 without doing an update.

Try doing a system reset. This will not erase your memory or anything on games just on tv settings and all. Push your power button down and keep it down. If it doesn't work do it again. When it beeps 3 times it should have reset itself. If that doesn't work please request help again with update on it not working and that you reset it.

hmm maybe there is something wrong with your xbox maybe you can unpatch all patches than patch it again and maybe it will work find a tut on how to download it with your pc hope it helped.

Problems since last update

its sounds like a possiable corupted firmware update. have you tried resetting the ps3 to factory default....then try reinstalling the firmware, i myself have not had any of these issues. to reset back the ps3 go to settings and find the tab to reset the ps3.....BE AWARE YOU WILL POSSIABLY LOOSE ANY SAVED DOWNLOADS ETC...MUSIC....PHOTOS....MEDIA ....AND WILL HAVE TO REDOWNLOAD EVERTHING FROM PS3 HOME STORE

Ps3 60g wont play ps3 games or blue ray!!!!

Try reseting the ps3 or try to update the firmware version to the latest, the problem may be fixed in an update. If that dosn't help call the sony peoplethey could help in this problem.

Ps3 System Update Failed, PS3 boots with error code 8002F14E.

-Open the side of your PS3 where your HDD is. Take the screw out, but leave the HDD in.
-When the update begins, pull your HDD out of the slot. It will tell you an error occured and it tells you to restart your system and try again. Instead, let the count from 60 run out, your screen will go blank for about 30 seconds then it will start back up and tell you that your Hard Drive needs to be reformatted. If you do not get this msg after 30 seconds, do it again until it does! Now, slide your HDD into place again - (make sure your controller is PLUGGED IN) and press the white PS3 button on the controller. It will then ask you to either press start and select at same time OR white PS3 Button - PRESS START and SELECT. Do not agree to user agreements!! Simply hit cancel and it will kick back to the PS3 start up screen.
