SOURCE: Hi..my duo clear is leaking

  • It sounds to me like the threads on the chlorinator cell have stripped so that even a new cap will not bite the threads properly. Normally I would say try a new "O" ring and possibly a cap but you replaced them already. This leaves the teeth the cap grip as the only possible reason for it leaking. Unfortunately the fix is a new chlorinator jug.
  • You may want to take a look at the new "O" ring and make sure you got a good one. Make sure you push it clear down past the the last thread with your fingers first.
  • Inspect the new cap for cracks or splits. New stuff is not impervious to defects.
  • Unfortunately when plastic to plastic is used, often times things strip and sometimes it can be costly. It's the price of manufacturing cheaper items. It cost less indeed but they break faster too.
Good luck to you, best regards, Tony

Do I have a bad spark modulator or a bad electrode?

Yes, it does sound like you have a bad spark module. But it could be a dirty spark electrode, allowing most of the voltage follow the "dirty path" to ground instead of going through the air. Make sure the electrode (the insulator) part is clean and dry. If you still have a weak spark (or one that goes out when the gas is turned on), they you probably have a bad spark module. If you want to know for sure, try swapping 2 spark wires. Remember that when 1 ignitor sparks, they all (are supposed to) spark.

Viking model VGR48 stovetop burners will not ignite?

First shut off the gas supply & disconnect electrical power to the range.
  • Remove all the burner control knobs, grates, burner caps & trim rings.
  • Remove the 2 screws securing the manifold panel, one from each corner. The panel will drop down.
  • Remove the screws from each manifold pipe mounting bracket. Remove 1/4 inch hex head bolt from the center of the manifold pipe. Push supply tube back to release from manifold pipe. Lift the cooktop assembly at the front to clear the 1/2 inch locator pins attached to the top of the bodyside.
  • Place cardboard between each side of cooktop & bodyside to prevent damage.
  • Move the cooktop to one side, being careful not to put stress on the wiring harness on left side.
  • Remove the wire from the electrode.
  • Remove the screw from the electrode mounting bracket to release the electrode.
You can replace the electrode & reassemble following instructions in reverse order.

How to remove the salt cell from the system

turn off pumping system and close flow valves (if present). turn off power to duoclear system. remove the cap from salt electrode (press on). if it is hard to remove, that is good. wiggle it a bit and it will come off. unscrew the retainer ring on electrode. the electrode is now ready to be removed. lift it straight out of the housing. sometimes, the trap door on housing will get stuck in the electrode. this is a real pain. do not force the unit out. you have to take a bent wire and while lifting the electrode out of housing, use the wire to push the door closed (toward the nature2). once this is done, the electrode should lift out easily.

When you tourn on the super chlorinate button, does it turn itself off?

To properly start up the system, add the salt, let circulate for 6 hrs then turn on the generator. running with extremely low salt can damage the unit. you will need a minimum salt reading of 4000 ppm with the duoclear.
when you activate the superchlorinate feature, the electrode will run at 100% for 24 hrs and then revert to the regular programmed level.

I want to clean my electrode, but the electrode connector seems to be stuck. I don't want to pull too heard. Could there be a build up of minerals holding it on? What do I do>

there is a 'one way' door on this unit that sometimes gets stuck in the electrode when it doesnt close properly. there are two things you can try.
lift the electrode and using a bent wire, try to close the door (on intake side). if this doesnt work, try reversing the water flow from the pump to close the door.

How do i clean off the salt accumulation on the plate?

Disconnect the 2 hoses from the saltwater system, and put on the cell cover plates. In a counter clockwise motion, unscrew the collar of the copper electrode and remove the electrolytic cell. Pour kitchen grade vinegar into the cell to immerse the titanuim plates, put the copper electrode back and soak for 1 hr + untill no color remains. then drain vinegar and reconnect
