Question about JVC TH-C5 System

1 Answer

I have a TH-C5 JVC receiver that is dead. Previously all the speakers were powered from the SP-PWC5 sub through a simple "S-video" looking hookup to the receiver. My question is if the powered sub could work with a regular non-JVC receiver with a sub output (possibly RCA style). Anyone know how to modify it so it'd work? I'd power the speakers through the receiver this time.

Its all going to be proprietary to the jvc system. Unfortunatly you will only be able to use the speakers with another reciever.

Only being able to use the JVC Sub woofer with The SPECIFIC receiver for that sub woofer just doesn't make that much sense to me. If the cord allotted for this sub woofer to play is an S-Video cord, and one has another receiver with an S-Video output, wouldn't that work just the same? If not, YES there STILL is a way to play the sub woofer by taking the case off of the sub woofer and directly connecting speaker wire to positive and negative it the sub woofer and than pouring the other ends into the POSITIVE

I recently got this jvc model number SP-PWC5, system number TH-C5, unfortunately I bought it from Craigslist and it did not come with the cables. I am wondering if a normal s-video cable will work?

I have a jvc seteup but reciever is broke.is there a way i can get a adapter to plug sub woofer with power amp into a a yamaha reciever?the plug that goes from sub woofer also powers other speakers, cable...

Here's a manual.

http://www.retrevo.com/support/JVC-TH-M505J-Home-Theater-Systems-manual/id/318dj491/t/2/

That cable not only carries audio but it also powers the sub and other channel amplifers. Even if we could supply the pin-outs for the channels I'm not sure what we could do to provide subwoofer power. We're talking about a major rework.

This is a highly proprietary design, meaning it's really not very adaptable to normal spec audio equipment.

There's a flat-fee repair service for the receiver ($99.95, free return shipping):

Maybe they could fix your receiver.

You COULD try to reach the manufacturer for other options.

Do you think the powered subwoofer itself might have a power problem? Check its cord.
