SOURCE: leaking under the rim of the toilet

Sound like what you are looking at is a corroded bolt that holds the tank onto the bowl. Remove and replace bolt and gasket with new part.

SOURCE: Replaced toilet fill valve - now bowl water level a bit lower

put some water in with a bucket. poor some in slowly until you get it where you think it should have been. If it levels back out at the lower level. Then there is nothing wrong. Maybe the leaking water was keeping the bowl water line high than it should have been.

Water is leaking from the tank to the bowl.

I've had this happen before. Mine was a bad seal between the tank and the bowl. I had to replace that stopper and the gasket underneath it between the tank and the bowl. It's not very complicated or dangerous, but you will have to remove the tank to do it. Have plenty of towels ready and plan for a place to sit the tank in (maybe your bathtub) while you are working.

About every 20 minutes or so, more water is released into the bowl from the tank. Toilet is less than 1 yr old ,model 4021

The flapper that stops water from entering the bowl after flushing needs adjustment. The chain is probably to short.

I have a new American Standard Cadet 3 that was just installed. After flushing, the water fills into the bowl. However, after several minutes, the water in the bowl slowly drains away and is nearly gone....

Sorry for problem with new toilet.
You say water is leaking out of the bowl?

Toilets have 2 parts:
1) Tank: where water is stored for the flush and is sealed with a flapper.
2) Bowl: where water flushes down.

a) If tank is leaking water, then flapper is suspect. Replace flapper and see if that works.
Lift up flapper and run finger around rim to see if there is a rough spot that would indicate flush valve is defective, and needs replacement.
See typical flush valve

b) If bowl is leaking, that is very unusual and would indicate a crack in the porcelain.

If installer sold you the toilet, it is his responsibility to make good on product.
All products are guarantee against workmanship flaws.

Theres a leak between tank and commode what needs replacing?

There are three rubber washers. There are two small ones under the heads of the bolts that pull the tank and the bowl together. (If this is a new toilet, it could be that these need a little tightening, but don't break it!) There is a large rubber washer where the water goes from the tank to the bowl.
f this is an old toilet, turn off the water, remove the water, remove the water supply pipe from the bottom of the tank, then remove the two bolts holding the tank and bowl together. Lift off the tank and you will see the rubber washers. Remove them and clean. Hardware stores have replacements. It might help to take the old washers with you to the store. You should replace the bolts if they are corroded. They sell kits that have the bolts and all three rubber washers included. Good luck. Al K

Porcher 6.0 Lpf / 1.6 toilet. Plumber said he

Try replacing the flapper, they are cheap and so long as the tank and or bowl are not cracked you can replace all of the internal parts and basically have a brand new toilet much cheaper then replacing the entire unit. Go down to your local hardware store and everything you need is in one simple kit with very simple instructions. Good Luck.

I have a new sterling 1.6gpf toilet can I increase the amount of water in the bowl. Every time or almost everytime, waste sticks to the bowl and I have to brush it loose.

If you raise the water level in the tank it will double flush. I suggest you change out the toilet to a Toto or Kohler class five flush action.

I replaced my Sterling 1.6GPF with universal flapper and it still did not fix the water leak into the bowl.

make sure chains not too tight otherwise it holds the flapper open just enough to let water thru
