Itune 306 error

From http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3297

iTunes Store loads partially or returns "Error 306" or "Error 10054"
Proxies, parental control settings and software, security or filtering software, or a bad iTunes Store cache can cause this.
To address proxies, Remove Internet Options proxy settings and connect to the Internet without a proxy.
To reset iTunes Store cache:
  1. In iTunes, choose iTunes > Preferences (Mac) or Edit > Preferences (PC).
  2. Click the Advanced tab.
  3. Click the "Reset cache" button.
  4. Click OK and see if the issue is resolved.
Adjust Parental Controls in iTunes:
  1. Open iTunes.
  2. Access iTunes preferences:
    1. On a Mac: From the iTunes menu, choose Preferences.
    2. On a Windows PC: From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
  3. Click the Parental Controls tab.
  4. Remove restrictions on Parental Controls.

Invalid response from itunes

Apple is not supporting the earlier models of iPhone with the later versions of iTunes.

iTunes provided this error message "iTunes could not connect to the iPod touch because an invalid response was received from the device." using my Generation 1 iPhone (2007) and iTunes version 12.6.0.100

There are two solutions for this, either find an Apple computer running an earlier version of iTunes, or find a PC version of iTunes that is earlier than version 12.

I found iTunes Version 8.0.2.20 for the PC (64bit) and that worked fine on my Win8.1 PC.

Caution - If you try to reload iPhone firmware holding down the power plus home button, and keeping the home button pressed, but you dont have a working iTunes - you risk "bricking" the iPhone until you can reload the firmware with an older version of iTunes.

The FileHorse website provides many older versions of iTunes for the PC.

Open iTunes on the computer.

Click the name of the connected iPod, which is located underneath the "Devices" menu in the left iTunes column.

Click the "Summary" tab that is found at the top of iTunes.

Click inside of the "Manually manage music and videos" box positioned in the middle of iTunes.

Click the "Apply" button that's positioned near the bottom of iTunes. You will now be able to safely connect the iPod to any iTunes.

    2. If the Control Panel is in Classic View, skip to step 3, otherwise open Security Center.
    3. Open Windows Firewall.

      3. Drag the original hosts file to your desktop.
      4. Right-click the "Copy of hosts" file and choose Open. You may be prompted to choose the program you want to use to open this file. Double-click Notepad.
      5. When Notepad opens, click the Edit menu and choose Select All. Then click the Edit menu, and choose Delete.
      6. Click the File menu, and choose Save. Close Notepad.

        • For Mac OS X, use Software Update to determine if you need to update your system.
        • For Windows, go to Microsoft's Windows Update webpage.
      • Make sure that you can access the Internet on your computer.

My ipod is disabled and is telling me to itunes. is there any way i can fix it using the iTunes in the internet explorer?

If your iPod has the 'Connect to iTunes' symbol, you will need to connect it to a computer running the iTunes software. You can't just use the iTunes website to do this. Once you connect it, iTunes will perform the necessary steps to fix or activate (if it's new) the iPod.

Itunes says it cant connect to the itunes store because the internet isnt connected, but it is... what should i do?

Many connection issues can be resolved by configuring Internet-filtering software to recognize the iTunes application and the iTunes Store addresses (listed below).
(The following iTunes Store Internet addresses should be added as trusted domains to any filtering software that may be running:)
  • itunes.apple.com
  • ax.itunes.apple.com
  • albert.apple.com

  • You can configure your Internet software to allow iTunes to access the Internet. If you're using Norton Personal Firewall or Norton Internet Security, you will need to enable iTunes in your Firewall settings.
