Question about Sony MHC-RV222D DVD Tuner Mini Hi-Fi System FOR 220 VOLTS

Changing cassette belt

Got my unit repaired in an electronic repair shop and paid more than a thousand pesos. To my dismay, after almost two months it malfunctioned again manifesting the same problem as when I brought it to the said shop. I opened the unit myself to inspect the problem only to find out that the belt of the left cassette player broke. How can I replace the belt myself so that I'll not be spending the same amount as I paid when I brought it in the shop. Do you have any video about changing the belt of the said unit? Thank you.

Remove the belt and carry it to an electronic part store and buy a replacement. If the tape deck unit is complicated draw it out first, draw out the way the belts are located and then process to replace
the belt.

SOURCE: No sound from old Sony HST231 Stereo System

It sounds as if the amplifier within the unit itself is dead, especially if the speakers AND headphones don't work. It most audio receivers, the amplifier is wired separately from the rest of the circuitry, meaning that the unit could appear to be working properly, but no sound will be produced.
I would just replace it, especially if it is an older unit. The parts (if even still available) and labor could be well above what a brand new one would cost.

Cassette player doesnt play or record, ff or rewind. CD player, AM/FM radio works fine.

Hi.
If you hear a faint whirring sound from the cassette player while performing these functions, the motor is fine, but you require a new drive belt/s that need to be fitted at an electronics shop. If you hear not sound at all, the motor has died (possibly belts too), again it will require and electrinics repair shop visit.
For the sake of repairing it, it maybe cheaper to buy a new one.

CFD-S300 tape recorder system not functioning

The most common problem with these is slipping belts. While a relatively simple repair for an experienced shop, these are a little tricky to repair for the first time. The belts shouldn't cost more than $6 total (I think there are 3 in this unit).

Replacing bands

Since the belts control the timing of the mechanism, I would not recommend this as a home repair. While relatively simple compared to some, this still is a delicate repair that can easily go wrong. Please bring this unit to an audio repair shop. Expect a parts cost in the $15-$20 range. There are 3 belts inside.

Tape Deck

This unit has 2 belts that are slipping and need to be replaced. This is not the easiest repair for a novice. The belts shouldn't cost more than about $5 total. I woud recommend that you seek a shop that repairs audio gear and inquire about the repair cost.

AM/FM is silent. Cassette works but sound is somewhat scratchy.

This is a common problem with this stereo. The problem is all the electrolytic capacitors in the stereo leak and change value. This is a major repair job. There are several companies that still repair this stereo. However, I suggest a replacement. There are aftermarket stereos that will work in place of the original while updating you to CD. There is wire harness adaptor needed for the installation and can be purchased from many on line stores.

Cassette Tape Deck Problem

Unit may have worn belts that are slipping. All cassette player belts are subject to deterioration even if recently installed. You may try ordering the belts yourself and have a service tech install them. The tech that installed belts 9 months ago may have used used belts. Although dishonest, it is common.

1994 Corvette Cassette/Radio?Replace cassette "drive belt"??

Donne Trav, you can take that belt to an electronics shop (your neighborhood shop is best). They will most likely have replacement belts. They will also have a tool that measures the belt so you know which size to get. I used to fix T.V.'s and VCR's. Its the best method when you cannot source an original belt. As far as the diagram, I would need a model # of the radio to even start a search for such a thing.
