did you drain the gas before putting it away last season? If not, I would drain all of the gas and put in fresh gas, also replace any in line gas filters

I have a john deere gx85, i have been using it all year and had no issues until recently. it runs strong for about 5 minutes then all of a sudden dies and sounds like it chokes itself out. i cleaned air...

A buddy of mine had this problem. He said there is a line running from the carb down to the crankcase. I don't know if a valve quit working in the carb or what...basically after he shut it off, it was draining fuel into the crankcase. Obviously he changed the oil, and started shutting off the fuel valve after he mows with it. No problems since.

I imagine the problem could be solved with a carb rebuild as well.
