Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Have a LG WT-H800 washing machine that makes a terrible grinding sound. I removed the very bottom nut and pulled the cover off. I found the plastic piece attached was all chewed out and broken. Now only if I knew what this piece is called I could start to look for a replacement. Any ideas ?

Go online to and put in the model number and your washer will come up with photos of all the parts and you can match to the one that you need.

Grinding noise

Must look underneath machine and verify nut holding up belt pulley has not loosened, if nut is loose, the noise you are hearing is the pulley scraping against plastic cover. if nut loose, unplug unit and remove 2 5/16in screws from plastic cover, remove nut and add loctite to threads, re-install nut tightly, re-install cover and all is fixed.

Grinding washing machine agitator

more than likely the pump is the part that is making the noise. You can verify this by leaning the machine back where you can see the pulleys, your pump will be the one in the back. Remove the belt and each pulley should turn smoothly. The part number for the pump is 35-6780

Maytag bravos washer making a grinding noise. It seems to make this noise when the drum is moving, any suggestions?

Unplug machine and tilt it back. Pull down the white insulation board. remove the two screws holding the white/clear plastic guard in place 5/16 nut driver. and check the gear and belt ours had come off. Now it works just like new you will need a 13mm hex for putting the gear back up.

My LG is a few years old, Model WM1832CW and seems to work in all modes except rinse. It just started this morning and sounds like its slipping and grinding and won't pump the water out. any suggestions....

Replace the pump motor. On your model, it can be done without removing the front panel. Open access door at bottom left of front panel. drain water out small hose. remove screw from plastic recess and use putty knife at side of recess to remove plastic recess. remove screw holding pump. pull machine out 2 feet from wall and tilt it back to rest back edge against wall. depress plastic tab in base to release pump. remove hoses and unplug electrical connection to pump. remove 3 screws holding pump motor to pump housing. install new pump motor and re-assemble.

Ratlling sound

Disconnect power to the machine and remove the back cover by removing the screws holding it to the cabinet. Once it is removed, remove the wiring harness from the heater terminals. Loosen the center nut that secures the heater to the bottom of the tub and pull the heater out. You now have access to the bottom of the tub where the foreign material is most likely got caught. If not, turn the drum until the material gets to the bottom of the tub.

Pull the material out and reinsert the heater into the opening all through the heater clip at the bottom inside of the tub. Reconnect the grounding wire to the grounding terminal and tighten the nut to secure the heater. Reconnect the heater wiring harness and reinstall the back cover.

Sounds like change grinding in spin cycle

This machine is prone to getting stuff down into drain pump. Pull unit away from wall, disconnect plug, hoses etc... Pull back steel panel of of rear of machine, facing rear of machine, drain pump on lower left, rinse pump on lower right, take needle nose pliers or spring pliers and remove hose to tub and drain pipe hose, tilt machine forward, take 5/16 nut driver and remove three screws holding pump, drop pump down, replace pump. Install in reverse order. Then, remove center nut in center of tub, pull center spinner out, then lift top to machine, remove inner tub and clean out metal, money or other stuff from bottom of outer tub, reinstall in reverse order.Once money has gotten into pump it can damage it, so replace it even though it looks good.

Smelly washer

Yes . You must first remove the body of cabinet. Remove Phillips screws on bottom left and right side of console.(Newer ones are located in back of console) Console will now flip up. Unplug lid switch wire harness remove clips on each side of cabinet. Using a flat head scredriver Hook in front part of clip and push up towards console. After clips are re moved tilt cabinet toward you and walk back with cabinet. Next remove (white Plastic shroud around outer tub. They just pull up with fla-thead screwdriver.Remove agitator by removing cap . there is usually a small **** you pry up at. If you have fabric softener dispenser on top remove it first. You will either have a 7/16th bolt or plastic female hole. If it is the latter use a half inch drive with extension to remove. After removing these just pull up agitator. by lifting from bottom.Next you will have to remove.spanner nut from drive block.Spanner wrench works best if not available you can use large flat-head screwdriver. To remove nut go counter clockwise. After spanner nut is removed grab basket on each side and pull up.Sometimes they stick you may have to tap around the hub or center post to break free. You now can clean plastic tub.
