Appears to be a problem with the imaging section of the main circuit. Sent to Canon - circuits have to be programmed, they come blank. canon does not let anyone have their software

I had the same problem. It turned out to be my cable that went from the dvd player to the TV. I replaced with new cable & everything worked fine again. Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.

Colors split on my ony rear projection tv

If by a color split, it looks like a 3-D picture, the problem is in the convergence circuit. Since it recovers on its own, it suggests to me that there is a poor solder connection at the convergence ICs. If you can solder, this should be a simple repair. Locate the convergence ICs (large black ICs attached to a heat sink that should be marked STKxxx). Resolder the pins on both ICs. If that does not resolve the problem, let me know.

Split screen

It appears that it has something to do with Progressive Scan been turned on. Progressive Scan is a feature built in your dvd player, wich by using it, it would give you a better picture//resolution on your tv, you need to use Component or HDMI cables to hook up the dvd to your tv if you want this settings, but if you are using composite RCA cables (Red,White & Yellow) and the Progressive funtion is turned on by accident, it may give you a split screen, black & white, or no picture problems. Also if you are using Component (Blue, Green & Red) cables, if one of them is unplug, the picture can be out of colors, or no picture. Check this things, if not, write back with more details about your set up.

I have a samsung sp42q2hl, which on the front of the tv say's it is a hdtv ready, and yet i cannot watch high defenition images or movies, also there is no hdmi inlet at the back so i'm not sure how you...

Hi.
Use component to connect this will give yu HD picture,
On the back of the set you will see A group of 5 phono sockets Blue, Green, Red, These carry picture,

Then Red, White, these carry stereo sound.
Component video 0831d.gif
Component-video cable b.gif
Component video improves the picture quality even more by not only separating the color from the black-and-white portions of the picture but by further splitting the color information into two color-difference signals. When the picture signal is split up in this way, you get an unfiltered, uninterrupted image, with better resolution and greatly improved color saturation. And this is why component video is the predominant method of hookup from HDTV set-top decoders to HDTVs.

So this is how your set can produce HD picture from Hd source.
