Is it the screen or the touch-pad?
What is the make and model of the Notebook or the device?

Check if the pad lock is on if you are referring to the notebook.
The location of the lock depends on the make.

If touch screen,
Step 1: Power cycle--- Turn off the device > remove the batteries>> wait for couple of seconds>> place the battery and turn it on.

step 2 : Do a Hard reset -- Depends on the make and model of the device
Back up the device before you reset. As you'll lose all the data once reset

Ok i have this mouse that does not work when i plug it into the usb port. the mouse dosent light up or any thing... what do i do?

First thing to do is to determine which one is at fault : is it the mouse, or the other way around?
Here's how :
  • Try another (known working) USB port
  • Try the mouse onto another known working computer
  • Try another known working mouse
  • Try another known working USB device (flash drive, etc) on USB port
Typically, the mouse needs replacement if it still does not work with another known good usb port or computer. If it's the other way around, then you may have USB port issues with your system.

Thank you for using Fixya.

I have a IT works wireless optical mouse model MWO 03 I had problems with my laptop and now it won't work, what do I do?

1.if you check with another mouse,it is working fine means may be your mouse is only fault.
2.Otherwise,check one thing in device manager and right hand side over the touch bad, weather yellow or red color over there or not, once over the color means it is driver fault so update the driver through device manager.
3.Otherwise eneble the touch option.
4.otherwise may be USB port problem,so update the usb driver via device manager

My laptop touchpad stopped working

this is probably a driver issue if you are lucky other wise the touch pad must have become faulty

if its a driver issue go to this site
http://www.synaptics.com/support/drivers
and download the drivers according to your operating system

install them and check if the touch pad starts working

if not then its probably a physical fault and needs replacing

Ps2 port doesn't recognize Microsoft Optical mouse

You might think about a USB hub for all your USB devices. ps2 port is more or less dedicated for mouse, which is why your mouse pointer is stuck in the middle of the screen. Go ahead and get an externally powered USB Hub to power other USB devices. To answer, ps2 for mouse needs just a mouse, not USB device.

Dynex wireless mouse DX-PWLMSE won't work

The mouse should be Plug and Play. Did you install the drivers before plugging the mouse's receiver in? The PC has to have the drivers first in order to take advantage of the Plug and Play capability. If you plugged the mouse's receiver in before installing the drivers, unplug the mouse receiver, uninstall the driver, reboot your PC, reinstall the driver, then plug the receiver in and you should be fine.

Otherwise, press the Connect button on the receiver first, and then the Connect button on the mouse, and that should establish the connection. You don't need to disable your touch pad in order to use the mouse.

USB Port Problem

Did something happen to the port setting? To find out, right click on My Computer, select properties, then select Device Manager. Does the Universal Serial Bus controller show up with no X's? Did it show up under the ? Other Devices section? You may need to uninstall and then reboot. Windows will discover new hardware and should find the driver for you.

That's my thoughts, so far. Except for the random shutdown. I am reminded of a guy who brought his system in with USB problems, no Internet, and a host of other problems. I discovered that almost all of his services had been disabled. Services and Applications, Services, also under Manage. I put my laptop on the same screen and restored his settings to match mine. Good luck in your hunt.
