Question about HP LaserJet 6L Printer
Pick up rollers will not advance paper Replaced paper feed rollers pad assemblies shoes etc. Paper still will not feed. When selecting the green button the selinoid clicks as the clutch gear turns but paper does not advance. Please confirm installation and contact points and direction of the parts to be installed. Observation: The clutch gear (makes contact with the paper feed roller but does not make contact with the gears on the right. However it does make contact with the small gear left below. Not sure if this is correct? I would appreciate some assistance with resolving my problem.

First thing to try is to flip the paper over in the input tray. There are 2 sides to paper. One side may curl a bit too much due to heat of the fuser and get caught near the output rollers.
Unless the Output Assembly was assembled wrong, it is impossible for the rollers to turn the wrong way. The gear in the fuser drives the output assembly. The top rollers are rolling out.
If the rollers are not rolling, then one of the gears must be broken or missing. The output rolllers might need cleaning.
Next check the fuser unit. Disconnect power to printer and turn printer round. Remove the back output tray and the two small covers (left and right). Undo the 2 screws that hold the fuser in place. Pull the fuser out. Check the gears on side of the fuser. A broken gear in the fuser could cause this problem.

You can lift the top of the unit to inspect the rollers. Be careful because the L series the roller can pop off easily and if you're not paying attention to original orientation, can be a pain to put back in.. you press the blueish button to release the pick up assembly. See if any rollers are dusty. If they are, use Isopropyl alcohol (highest % you can find) and a LINT FREE cloth (dryer sheets/coffee filters or something of that nature..) and wipe clean
Hope this helps, I'm honestly doing all this from memory, I used to work for that dept here in Oregon ..

Please check limiters paper in tray 2 to be on A4, letter, depending on paper format. Otherwise you have problems with taking the sheet from tray 2.

Testimonial: "Excellent suggestions on troubleshooting HP Laserjet 1320 Printer. It took a few times to get the correct solution, but it works now! THANK YOU!"
SOURCE: paper feed problem
You can try to clean the rollers with alcohol, usually it's just the paper dust and ink that makes them lose traction. With the back door open you can clean the roller with alcohol on a Q-tip.
