Will it boot back up? If so download Microsoft essentials and Windows defender to run to check for viruses or use a VERY good virus protection system ( The people at Office Depot will be glad to tell you which ones are the best ) Once you have verified all that if you have a repair program you may want to run it and see what it finds and repairs. I empty my cache and cookies almost daily if I am on a lot. I also make sure to defrag or at least check it once a week .If you have a good security program you can set up a time like 2:00AM and it will perform all of the above while you sleep. You can also connect with Microsoft service and they can connect to your computer to see what the problem is and help. .At the moment I can't remember if it's the essential program that has a fast scan or an in depth scan or the windows defender that has a scan that takes a few hours, I am wanting to say it's the Essentials in depth so I run it before I go to bed and when I get up in the morning continue. Hope this helped

There might be some software issue or virus attack in your system.. once that window opens, go to start->run and type "shutdown -a".
which will cancel the shutdown.. and then check for the software issue or virus attack.

How do I recover from an unexpected shutdown of my laptop?

Most unexpected shutdowns are from thermal signals from the processor or from a memory module failure. Get some cans of compressed air from an office supply store and with all power disconnected and the battery removed, use small bursts of air and blow out all the ventilation frills on the laptop, including all access doors and cd/dvd tray or slot. If it continues after the cleanout, try powering down and removing one memory module and run the laptop. If it dies not shut down, swap out the modules and try again. if it fails, then you know what the problem is.

If the Computer restarts randomly, then the issue might be due to any damaged Operating System Files.
But, if the Computer shuts down randomly, it is due to the Processor.
All the Processors will be designed in such a way that, if there is any overheating issues, the Computer will shut down randomly.
The overheating might occur due to the malfunction of the Cooling Fan in the Computer.
As this is a overheating issue, it would be better to get the Unit examined at the Service Center.
Replacing the Cooling Fan in the Computer should resolve the issue.

Acer aspire 5000 unexpected shutdowns, random, fan running.

Hello

Thank you for using FixYa.

Have you cleaned out the airvents and fan area. these build up with dust and if the unit gets too hot it will shut down unexpected

Also always use on a hard surface so the airvents are kept clear

thanks

My hp computer restarts unexpectedly

Does it occur when switching to or from a specific user? If so the profile is bad.

If it happens on all users try running a repair on the operating system.
