Set the temperature to "extra hot" If still not hot enough, try zapping your coffee for a few moments in the microwave.. no coffee machine will boil the coffee as this would burn and cause an awful burned coffee taste

The manual tells me to test the product by heating a cup of water for 30 seconds

Bernard,
I usually will test a cup of water for 60 seconds and it should be hot enough that you would not want to leave you finger in the water more than a couple of seconds. It would not be hot enough for most people to use for coffee or some other hot beverage but it would be hot enough to burn your finger if you leave it in there for very long. If it is still lukewarm after running for 60 seconds you probably have a problem with some of the major components and depending on the age of your microwave it might be cheaper to replace the microwave with a new one. Hope this helps you!

MY Rheem 81SV40D Water Heater (47 gal) does not heat enough water. Approximately one bath worth.

You have dual-element 240Volt electric water heater.
Since you have some hot water, then we know upper element is good, and that circuit breaker and electricity to water heater are good.
Not enough hot water is probably bad lower element, and possibly sediment build-up in bottom of tank.
Test element:

Replace 4500 watt element available at local hardware, and clean out bottom of tank:

My top loader whirlpool (3yrs old) appears to be causing stains: after careful monitoring it appears the fabric softener container conitunes to leak/drip/run down the central column - so staining sheets,...

You can try a few differnt things, staining is usually caused by not hot enough water to disolve or hard water issues. A Washer cleaning use one gallon white vingar fill up washer with hot HOT water let sit over night than run washer next day on HOT hot. Second try washing in warm to hot water dluting softner more breaks down better. Also dluting the softner more in the cup will help washing in cold causes alot of these issues, Make sure water heater turned up hot enough, make sure washer has hot water fill?

Sometimes there isn't enough hot water for a shower when the hot water mode is set.I have set the hot water temperature to 65 degrees

Are you waiting long enough for the water to be totally heated, before showering? Unfortunately, all the water doesn't reach 60 degrees celsius (140 degrees fahrenheit) in a matter of minutes. Try switching to the hot water mode sooner and allow enough time for the system to heat up entirely. If that doesn't solve the problem, the burner may need cleaning,

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks.

Do you connect to cold water or hot

Hi,
You need to hook that to the hot water line...often the dishwasher will work better if you even run water to the sink and get the water hot before starting the dishwasher....they will keep the water hot but do not have a strong enough element to heat cold water hot enough to do a good job for you...

Water is not hot enough and the temp is on 120 I have a notiz tankless hot water heater

check your gas pipe size. make sure you have enough gas running to the unit. also turn all your faucets on hot and turn off the cold water to the heater and see if you get any water out of the hots anywhere, that could mean that you have a cross connection.
