Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

My dishwasher has power but does not turn on to any cycle when the control knob is in that position. It was adding water and starting to wash, but not going through the whole cycle and not rinsing and drying. Now it has water stuck in it. I hear sounds underneath like it's trying to go to the next cycle (a clicking noise), but then it doesn't. I put a new timer in it, but it was doing the same thing before that.

I just felt the motor. Could the motor beburned out? I looked underneath when trying to put it on a cycle and it looks like at points the motor tries to move, but doesn't. How do I check that if that is what it might be. Or could it be another problem?

  • roywoodjr Jun 19, 2009

Yes. I'm pretty sure it is the motor.

Hi just check out the following solutions that i provide u right now.. it will be a perfect fix for ur problem..
first of all make this check Door switch The door switch is important because, if it's defective, the dishwasher won't work at all. To reach it, you need to remove the control panel cover, or sometimes the interior liner of the door. If it's defective, you need to completely replace it...

Next check for the Heating element Your dishwasher has an electrical heating element that helps to dry the dishes. If the element is burned out, the dishes won't dry properly, and you need to replace the element.

Drying fan Many high-priced dishwashers have a small fan that blows air or heated air into the dishwasher to speed up the drying process. If the fan is defective, you need to replace it.

Thermostat Some dishwashers have a thermostat that monitors the drying temperature. If the thermostat is defective, the heating element may not cycle on or off properly. If that's the problem, you need to replace the thermostat.

these are the perfect fix for ur problem... if nothing goes right for u then u should contact ur dealer for further services

thank u

    Motor

If the motor isn't turning or working, the unit won't drain. First check to be sure you have power to the dishwasher. If the motor hums but doesn't turn, it may need to be replaced.

Some dishwashers are susceptible to getting stuck if you don't run them regularly. If you haven't run the dishwasher for more than a week, you may need to manually spin the motor to free it up. If the motor is defective, you need to replace it. Dishwasher motors can't be serviced.

    thank u

1) Ensure the dishwasher is turned off.
2) (may not apply) Turn the plastic blue lever located under the sink to the vertical position (this opens the valve, so water can go into the dishwasher)
3) Pour powder indo the dishwasher
4) Turn the dishwasher controller to the top position (the 12 o’clock position) – this is the eco-setting.
5) Press the on/power button on the dishwasher, so that it now turned on (a light will display)

I also had this problem. Support person couldn't tell me if the pump was supposed to run even when setting the control knob to 'off' (bar before (1)). After draining the pan, the control knob functioned normally. So apparently any power to the unit will run the pump when the overflow pan is filled, no matter the position of the knob.
