Every half an hour, an annoying error popup comes up on my laptop screen

The error states that "There was a problem starting C:\Users\******\AppData\Roaming\OpenCandy\7A61B2B24C5446BFAC575E8F96C4805D\OCBrowserHelper_1.0.5.112.dll The specified module could not be found" I have searched everywhere and cannot find a solution, so please can you help? Thanks Rob

Thanks Nathan but the thing is, there is no file in Roaming called "OpenCandy" unfortunately. I have tried using CCleaner and Avast to get rid of the problem but it seems to still be there. Rob

So, that error is coming up because a .dll is missing where it should be. You should go to Roaming by going to the Start Menu and typing in '%appdata%' with the percentage signs. Then click on the 'Roaming' folder. After that, find the folder named 'OpenCandy' and open it. Then if there is an uninstaller in there open it and uninstall OpenCandy. The uninstallers are usually at the bottom of the page. They are usually called 'uninst' for short. If you still want OpenCandy then just reinstall it the same way you did if you installed it in the first place. Hope this helps.

Well if you look below, JEM has kindly posted a link to show that it is actually a virus. The link also provides info on how to remove it too! Well, thanks JEM for posting the link and I hope you can remove it from your system. Thanks. - Nathan

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

SOURCE: Error Messages!

that doesn't sound good, dell pc's normally have a recovery partition, so if you don't have any valuable photo's/documents on there you should be-able to restore it to how it came out of the box. On my dell it's restart the PC and while it's booting hold CTRL and F11

That will wipe EVERYTHING on it and restore it to factory settings. so only do it as a last resort, it will only work if dell has put a recovery partition on you machine

Power connection to computer came out during shutdown yesterday. Today, turning on, it will not boot up.

You are going to need a clean boot up disk. You will have to get one mailed to you or you will have to use another computer to download one. This will get you back into a point that you can do a windows restore. This is going to get rid of all programs and start you fresh. I do, however, feel that you disk drive is going out or already shot. You should do a Chkdsk on it. (check disk). This will tell you if it is a hard drive error or not.

You have been infected with spyware and/or adware - the flashing you see are popups that appear and are being blocked by your browser.
Install and run another antivirus and from now on stop using Internet Explorer - use another browser, like Firefox or Opera.

Did you install Windows 7 or is it XP, which is a discontinued operating system?

Blue screens are less prevalent and even nonexistent on Windows 7 vs. Windows XP.

Acer eNet Management

Do you have "What do you suggest I do to stop the alternating messages? It's almost as annoying as popups." I get an alternating popup (actually fade in fade out) message. the alternating message says "Acer eNet Management Internet Disconnected" Here is my solution!!! :)

First 'Right-click on task bar', TASK BAR IS AT THE BOTTOM OF YOUR SCREEN' then click on 'Properties'. Click on 'Notification Area', Click on 'Customize', Look for WLAN(disconnected), Click on it and choose 'HIDE', Click 'OK', then click 'APPLY', then click 'OK' and now you have no more annoying message. TOO EASY MATE ;)
