You can lift the lever in the ice hopper to turn off the unit, or simply unplug the electrical connection to the ice maker inside the fridge. If your leak is in the line between the house supply line and the valve on the icemaker, turning it off will not solve your troubles. If that is the case, you can turn off the supply line valve.

GE Profile side by side refrigerator stopped making ice, what could be the problem?

Either the water valve on the back of the refrigerator is bad or the icemaker is bad. reach into the icemaker and check for water in the mold. if there is water replace the whole ice maker, replacing parts is just as costly and the other parts could fail in a very short amount of time. If there is no water the problem is the water valve on the back of the refrigerator. First check the tube inside the freezer where the water enters the ice maker for any ice blocking the water flow. Look with a good flashlight this is sometimes hard to see. If this tube is blocked your valve is leaking just a drop at a time and and has built up into this ice block. Melt the ice and replace the water valve. The valve could also just not be opening. If there is no water in the mold but the tube is clear of ice assuming the water is turned on to the refrigerator, replace the water valve and this will solve your problem.

GE Profile Refrig model PSC23SGRC ice maker stopped making ice. Water is ok, just stopped? Is this common? Its only 4 yrs old

Your model has an electronic ice maker part number Click Here=> WR30X10093 When the electronic ice maker fails you usually need to replace the complete ice maker. You can test the ice maker by filling the tray with tap water. If the water freezes aand then drops the ice then the water control on the back of your refrigerator is the reason. The water control valve is Click Here=> WR57X10032 Either way let me know your results, Thank You, Sea Breeze

Ice maker problem

something has to give when it too hard to turn. if ice cubes are ice to each other it could cause this . sometimes this is caused by water leaking from ice maker into the bucket . look for a bad water valve or a ice maker that is not lever or has bad tray . . ****

Ice maker leaks water

The GE Icemaker has a center bottom plunger that drives the ice cube discharge tray up and down. If that center plunger oring has failed the ice maker will leak in a drip drip drip fashion. If it only leaks once every cube cycle then it is overflowing when filling. This can be corrected 2 ways. One is to turn of the water supply line and disconnet the water line on the back of the unit. Place the hose into a large bowl of some kiind and then have someone open the valve until the flow is full and then reduce that flow about 50 percent. Remember how many turns it took to get that flow and shut off the water supply line. Then reconnect the line and turn on the water the number of turns you counted when shutting off the water. The PROPER way of setting the water flow timing is to frome the front cover of the ice maker and turn the adjustment screw in the DECREASE direction. My suspicions are that the plunger o-ring is leaking. It costs nearly as much to have the service call to replace the o-ring as it does to replace the ice maker. Your choice but I would replace the icemaker if the plunger is leaking. (mid-bottom point of ice maker) Just note that once a leak occurs in the plunger area if the plunger has corroded the new o-ring will wear out rapidly.

Icemaker leaking

Check two things.

1: see if you have ice buildup in the water inlet tube above ice maker, if you do chance are the water valve is bad, if not,

2: see if you have icicles hanging from bottom of ice maker, if you do you have a bad ice maker.

Either way, will need full model number and serial number both to get you the right part numbers for parts.

Me GE Profile PSC23M Side by side ice maker quit making ice and water was on floor behind refrig. Is a water line frozen or clogged or do I have to replace ice maker?

It sounds like you just have a leak at the back. Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser and watch on the back for where the water may be leaking before it gets up to the ice maker.

GE profile side-by-side water dispenser works, no ice though

Ice maker bad or the ice maker water valve mounted on the same bracket as the dispenser is bad. These frigs are prone to bad ice makers after a few years.

Ice maker stoped working

Ice maker Diagnostic Test:

- Remove the ice bucket
-Turn the ice maker off, wait 15 seconds than turn it back on
-Press the ice paddle three times, this will begin diagnostic test.
-PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH ICE MAKER DURING DIAGNOSTICS

-In 3 minutes you should see the rack inside turn 360 degrees
-AND the ice maker bowl should fill with water

-IF either DID NOT work, call 1-800-GE-CARES for ice maker replacement. A service call is approx $80. The $80 will be deducted from the part/labor if you choose to purchase/install parts from the service technician. If not, you will pay for the service call. Good luck.

Ge profile side By side ice maker water leak

This sounds like the float mechanism has gone bad. Remove it and have a look. It may be the float or the switch on it that is bad. There is also a solenoid valve. Parts kits are available. Shut off the water first!
